Bought this to weld up a platform for my DIY home elevator. Never mig welded before. But with all the videos available to help, learned how to do a decent bead after much practice. Maybe not professional, but not too bad in my opinion. Had to call Eastwood support for help setting it up and they were more than helpful. The manual is adequate, but for dummies, it may require calling them as I did. I broke the torch trigger within a few days due to my own carelessness. I called Eastwood tech support and was willing to purchase a new trigger, but it only comes as a whole torch assembly. The guy said it was under warranty and no questions were asked. He said no worries, I'll send you a new one. Now that's customer service friends. A 3 year warranty was why I went with this unit over the competition and I'm glad I did. These guys are legit!     • Too Finicky of a machine at this level

The media could not be loaded. I was using this welder modestly in a home shop. It was pretty good initially but It really hated arcing up, it always felt like no matter how clean the metal was or how often I cut the wire tip, the machine just hated to get going. I am by no means a professional welder but I should have at least been able to get the same performance I was getting out of the little harbor freight 140 mig flux core only machine I had been using. The feeding always seemed to be an issue and the infinitely adjustable knobs always seemed to be jumping numbers. Then one day, ALMOST over the 3 year warranty it stopped arching all together. I called east wood and was advised this was a known issue and they sent me out another one (kudos where it's due). This new one they sent me would start feeding the wire slow at first, like the setting was on 1-3 maybe, then it would speed up to wherever it was actually on. This created awful looking welds and waaaaay too much spatter (even for a flux core application) because if you were welding say a 3/8" the first three seconds is the machine not feeding fast enough and the wire is basically dissolving and exploding all over my work piece. After many strange excuses from east wood I showed them the above video and was advised that's how its designed (never experienced that in the beginning) and that they would not be offering further assistance since my warranty was up and it had already been replaced once. ... show more

Only thing is aluminum tig welding this will not do but great machine. Love it and no bottle switching and can switch everything with a touch of a button. You can use a aluminum spool gun but not the same
