It's nice when you get a product that you can tell had actual engineering and thought put into it. I got this for small backyard bonfires and to reduce my growing burn pile without smoking out the neighbors. Customer service is amazing!! First off, I ordered the upgraded fire pit, with the new ash pan and fire gathering ring. Amazon sent me the older original version. I contacted East Oak CS directly and they immediately sent me a new fire pit. The only thing they asked for was the invoice and a picture of the fire pit I received. Having burned fires in both, the upgraded pit is worth it. It just burns better... if you already have the original, it's not enough better that you need to go get the new version in my opinion, but it clearly has better air flow... I've also burned quite a few fires in the big name brand ,of equal size, I got at Costco. The East Oak is better in a couple of important ways. First, somehow, the heat reaches lower. My lower legs and feet don't get cold like they do with the other brand. It's not hot, I'm burning this on my wood deck with no fear, but it is warmer. Second, air flows better. The fire lights quickly and is stronger throughout the burn. Lastly, it was half the price of the Costco bundle of the other brand, and that Costco price is hard to beat. Better fire for half the cost...? That's an easy decision... ... show more

I have loved my East oak 17" first pit since I first ordered it in Dec. 2022. It's the perfect size for frequent backyard fires that are well contained -- perfect for my small poolside patio. It is exactly as advertised -- smokeless and easy to use! Unfortunately, the humid seaside air here in the Tampa Bay area wreaked havoc on the ash pan insert -- rusting it terribly. So I emailed East oak -- almost 2 full years after purchase (I wasn't sure if I was even under warranty) -- and they responded quickly saying they'd send me a brand new replacement ash pan! It arrived yesterday -- which means its time for anotehr fire! I honestly don't know of too many companies who are so willing to stand behind their products like this. So thank you, East Oak! The firepit arrived very well packaged and undamaged. The firepit itself seems to be very well made and solid, with high grade stainless steel. I have only had the chance to use it once but it lit easy and burned very hot. Once the fire got going the pit was almost completely smokeless. Certainly way less smoke than other non-smokeless pits I have had. So far I am happy with the pit, but truly only time will tell how well it works and holds up, and if it was worth the amount of money spent. ... show more

It’s nice having a portable personal fire pit. Performs as expected I suppose and is holding well after a year. Mostly smokeless and warms a small once a generous overflowing blaze is going. Not really worth more than I paid for it as a warehouse deal. Should have included the lid with no handle. Doesn’t matter, eBoy to the rescue with a better cover and plain lid with no handle for a lot less than the manufacturer. Would buy again ata reduced price. ... show more

It does everything the website says! Easy to clean. Easy to carry. We use it with pellets and works great. The grate is small enough so the pellets don’t fall through. There is some smoke but don’t know if it’s because of the fire starter we use. 100 percent recommend this if you’re looking for a portable small unit. I just got this in 2 days ago. That night I tried it for the first time. A couple years ago I bought a normal fire pit. I only had used it twice in the past years as it was hard to get a fire going in it. it sits covered on my patio. I went out the other night with my new 17 inch East Oak. I put a small paper bag and 4 pieces of kindling in and lit it. within 2 minutes it was burning like a charm. Put several splits on it and had a great campfire going. So easy to enjoy within minutes. I planned to use it last night, but a long thunderstorm ended those plans. Two years of my other fire pit sitting unused, and I was already looking forward to my second night with this new one. I even went a bought a bag of marshmallows for the first time in years. It burned for several hours on just the 3 splits and an unsplit 3 inch diameter chunk. I went out yesterday morning to do the excellent setup it has for the ash dump. It incinerates the wood into fine ash that is on a tray and pan that you pull out with the provided fire tool. You can pt it in a metal trash can, even though it was completely cold, or use it in compost. Came back and picked up the 13 pound base and dumped the trace amount of ash left out. At 72, bringing back the feeling of being 25 and sitting around a campfire that isn't a load of work to get going is priceless. To have that for less than $60, at the time. is worth every penny. On the East Oak site this is selling for $187! Hoping the weather cooperates tonight so I can enjoy a few toasted marshmallows again. Another great thing about this is I can easily put it in the trunk of my car with some wood and have a fire any place it won't get stolen before I can dump the ash the next morning. ... show more
