With the iPhone X max wrapped in a Moment case and Anamorphic lens it balances just fine, but because I also have an external mic I have to move the phone over an inch to make room for the cord and the weights just cannot balance out. So I have to order another set. But that’s OK because it’s a good product. The weights do not go out tangent to the arm they are perpendicular but I believe this is better as the weight is less acute on the Smooth 4 arm and so the magnetic motors don’t have to move so much on a strong pivot.     • Mine appears to be all aluminum construction, no rust.
The Machine shop work is good. I added a drop of machine oil to the threads on the screw for smoother operation. I purchased just in case I needed counter balancing as I did not want to remove my phone case when mounting on a Ziyun 4 smooth gimbal. As of yet I have not needed to use it as recommended my phone case appears to be light enough that I can balance without it. The only problem I see on the Ziyun smooth 4, is you will not be able to place the gimbal in standby mode with the Eachshot counterbalance mounted outside the arm. This is how it is shown on the info / sales picture. You can mount it on the inside of the arm and then be able use standby mode, but you will then not have room to attach the weights. On the plus side when I added a sun hood to my iphone 6s for outside shooting, the hood makes my phone front heavy (screen side). I have found that I have just enough space on the arm that the phone attaches too, to place the counter balance clamp along with 3 weights on the same arm and not have any interference with the Ziyun smooth 4 gimbal. Works as designed and looks fantastic. I was waiting for the universal mount from Moment but this was not only less expensive, but it looks better. Works perfect with my Zhiyun Smooth 4, Note 8 and Moment wide lens. May post photos later as i will need to use my DSLR or someone else to show the setup ... show more

    • Great product, make sure your gimbal has the motor strength.
These little guys do the trick quite well! The only problem is that my Zhyun Smooth Q has a hard time holding these and an iPhone 7 Plus and a moment wide angle lens all at once. With a gimbal that uses stronger motors, these would be fantastic. Just make sure your gimbal is able to do the job you ask of it. Otherwise this thing has a pretty good design with a nice strong clamp and easily adjusted counterweighting. ... show more

Like the fact of the build quality, and the feel. Came with 4 weights and fits perfectly on the Smooth 4. Have an iPhone 11 pro max with case and only need 2 weights to balance out. Great buy!!

Well first time I go to install it, the spring used to put tension on the moving clamp gets tangled up with the threads and jams into the outside clamp inner diameter hole damaging the spring and threads. I had to use a pair of needle nose pliers to get the spring out. The spring needs to be slightly larger in diameter so as your screw in the clamp it doesn’t catch the screw threads and lock itself up. ... show more

I recently purchased a DJI Osmo 2 gimbal stabilizer and a lens to go with my iPhone 7+ for a project. I don't believe that I need to explain to you what happened when both phone and lens were installed into the gimbal. The reason you're even reading this is to know whether or not this item works to counter balance the weight of an extra phone lens on a gimbal. It does. This counterweight gives you the ability to adjust the balance of the gimbal by adding or removing the 4 weights included, each weighing at slightly under 20 grams. 4 stars for build quality, not high end but functional. I think that it is worth the money for the purpose it was created for. ... show more

The Gimbal would not work with my new iPhone promax, it was too heavy. I contacted the manufacturer of the gimbal and they told me there was nothing that could be done. I purchased this counterweights, installed it and it works great. Excellent instructions, very easy to install.
