  • Not for home cinema

If you want to use it to convert your receiver to active speakers at home, do not buy it, in this case, you can hear strange noise sound and clicking. Otherwise, it can be opposite different for cars...

  • Works god BUT...
This converter does indeed convert high level speaker input to low level line output. Also, it turns on automatically it senses input. There is also a very handy REMOTE out signal that I use to turn on my amps and EQ. However, as stated in other reviews, there is a very high-pitch whine when the engine is running. It is very low and seems to come and go. I used a power line filter but it did not stop the whine. Some reviewers stated that the whine is from the alternator but I m not so sure...the whine does not change change in pitch or volume with the engine revving. I am planning to run a separate 12 power supply to the converter as a test to determine if the car power is the source of the issue. Without the converter there is NO whine. UPDATE: The whine is from the alternator. Initially I didn't think it was but the pitch does indeed change with RPM. I tried several grounding schemes and added a 3300uf. capacitor as a filter but to no avail. I also tried a separate AC power supply (12VDC output) but the supply added hum (poor supply filtering). However, the whine did disappear. I think the issue is with the converter being in the trunk and not near the head unit and a ground loop is formed. Next step is to move it behind the head unit (a lot of work). ... show more

  • Worth the money spent
Style: 5 Channel
This product allowed me to install a sound system in my car without messing with the touch screen head unit. 4 component speakers, 1 subwoofer, 2 amps. Just tapped into each of the four speaker interior speakers. Pros: -Best price for a 5 channel line out converter -Great product that allowed me to run 4 component speakers, 1 subwoofer through 2 amps. -Tapping into my head unit was a No Go, I was not going to touch that madness. So, I needed something to be able to run a system without touching the head unit. And this worked great for me. -Each channel is adjustable -Small size and fairly each instructions Cons: -You will need a small screw driver, similar to the ones for eye glasses. - I had to figure out how to get power to the "remote in" (so my amp will turn on and off) without using the head unit, if you have a harness for the head unit, then no need to solve this issue that I had. Overall: I love the product. Hopefully it lasts me many years. And my system sounds amazing and pretty loud as well. ... show more

  • Good product good price. Received the wrong model.
Style: 5 Channel
Installing this in my 08 Infiniti QX56. The radio has too much functionality for me to remove it. I haven't listened to it yet but I'm sure it will be great. Has clip sensors for each channel as well as volume control. One thing I don't like is that it requires a remote in. Some other converters don't require that and use the speaker inputs to give you a remote out. No big deal I just used the aux power from the radio. I would give it a 5 star but 2 things happened I don't like. 1) if you look at the pic I received the v4hl so no sub output. I did contact customer service and voiced the situation to them but I decided to keep it cause I want my music and paid my money. 2) the remote signal issue. Other than that it is a good product and in looking forward to finishing my install. If your looking for a good line level converter this one is a good one. (Also if you own the same vehicle or any of the Nissan vehicles 08-12 the speaker levels are already low level so you could just hook up RCA's directly to them) ... show more

  • Great audiophile quality device! Used with my Denon to expand the main zone of a multi zone receiver
Not used in my vehicle.... My Denon receiver has 2 zones, main and zone 2, awesome but my basement 'man cave' area has a TV room, office and music room with each speaker system on its own amp. I could have run speaker wires all over the place and put in new speakers and barely driven by the Denon at < 1 ohm... lol, or taken my chances with a high/low. There's a bunch of passive junk out there for pennies but I wasn't too concerned about spending $50 on the right converter. After double checking with Anthony at DS18 about rigging it up to a 12V adapter and a jumper to the remote in, I plugged it in and cranked the sucker up. It has a lot of headroom! The Denon is 125 Watts per channel. Even though the V4HL is rated for 50 Watts or so, it doesn't clip even at high volume. Even when the clip lights are lighting up there's very little discernable distortion and most likely it's on the inputs of the other room's amps. I went with the 4 channel even though I am using 2 for the front channel L/R from the Denon. Since the Denon does surround sound, I wanted to have the option to combine the front channel output to the L/R. Frankly, I like 7 channel multi channel stereo more so for music anyway. The V4HL is well built, very good engineering behind it, active rather than passive, adjustable and supported. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Game Changer, Adds Value to your sound experience
Style: 5 Channel
I was previously connecting my Sony car amplifier & underseat subwoofer directly in the to the high signals, and it work fine but the subwoofer was tied to the rear speakers, I couldn't gain extra bass or sound levels in general otherwise the SubW or the Speaker will sound bad, adding this device I got a separate line for my SubW, it is only 160W but I was able to add some gains with the knob and now feels really good. Totally recommended. Note: since I am using this LoC and the OEM radio only comes with FR, FL, RR, RL there is no option for me to control the SubW from the radio itself but I use the bass volume knob that came with the SubW, if you were wondering. ... show more

  • Works well but...
Maybe it's me but I believe the description says that the unit will power on when it senses an audio signal, so I specifically chose this LOC because my HU doesn't have a remote signal wire. It doesn't do that though. So I contacted the company and they state it will always turn on when HU is on and since I have my amp connected to this LOC, it's always on too, even when I have the radio off. Oh well, it's still nice and works well but subtracted 1 star for a misleading description. ... show more
