I purchased this to go on a trip in the Antarctic region. I needed good protection for the camera and binoculars that I was traveling with. This included sea kayaking, zodiac travel, and popping in and out of the zodiac into water. This was big enough to hold the equipment and I could add padding to keep the equipment safe. Despite the cold and the salt water the material held up very well. I had another smaller water proof bag that quickly cracked in the environment. I have used this bag with success for my motorcycling adventures, including a Long, ~2700 mile trip. Things stay dry and the bag packs tightly and is very secure. On my most recent trip, one of the seams came apart; it SEAMED (sorry, bad pun) to me that it was just a manufacturing defect as I haven't seen other reports of this happening. After trying to repair myself to no avail, I reported the issue to customer service and even though I've owned the bag almost a year, they were able to send me a brand new bag. Bought this bag to use on a Dells getaway. Had it in the boat and it was nice to have a dry space to store valuables and electronics. Even used it to access a swimming hole that requires traversing up creek in deep water. Swam with it twice and learned some things. Pros: it’s a legit heavy duty pvc/vinyl material bag and it’s very big. We fit 4 beach towels 3 large water bottles and all our personables. It floated even when full of everything. Comfortable to wear, it’s just like a large frame backpack with very good straps. None of that fragile clips breaking off that people write about in other product reviews. Cons: the tops roll down is secure but could be better. The side clips are too close to the top of the bag limiting the maximum tension you can achieve when sealing it up. If the bag is stuffed to the brim it helps with getting a tighter roll and seal. But when the bag is more empty it’s floppy on top and doesn’t feel as secure as it should be. I made the mistake of only attaching the top roll down clip when swimming back to the river head and the bag ended up leaking on the sides of the roll. Would not have done so if I remembered to get those side clips attached but it still shows the overall looseness of the roll down when the bag is not packed to the top. Overall, worth the $40 when compared to the products sold at the outdoor stores. Gonna add it to the camping supplies and keep it on hand for future water based adventures. ... show more

I wanted an all in one travel bag that would also work for sailing and nordic skating. This bag can max out as a carryon, but also get small enough for a personal item on a budget flight. It also looks good, is pretty comfortable with all the right straps and is now my go to bag for short trips. I'm on boats a lot and waterproof is very important. As an outdoor pack the loops are what I wanted for securing gear. There's no small pouch for a water bottle but that's an easy add on with a carabiner. Rather than have a bunch of travel bags, I can resize and rely on this one for most of my travel needs - I've got plenty of light fabric dry bags of different sizes for smaller items and simple carries. ... show more

I've used this on several camping trips when I'm packing supplies near water. Used it to hike to a hot spring, to carry some gear on a kayak, and even to transport towels to a swimming pool. This is a super heavy duty and very rugged bag. Unless you take it scuba diving it will definitely keep out water no matter what the conditions. Only downside is it goes for function vs form, so it’s definitely NOT a fashion statement.
