I have the sensor next to my driveway about 300 feet from the house and the alarm picks up very well. The variable chimes are a nice feature, but I don’t see myself changing them after settling on one tone that I like.

I have tried adjusting them and they alarm when the wind blows, when weeds move, when tree branches move, when small animals go by, and more. Most of the time I have no idea why. I took one away to try and limit it but still have the issue. It is now pointed down and farther away from the road since passing cars would set it off. I have watched cars drive by on the road and heard it alarm. The sound selector on the receiver does not work. I have changed the chime three times, and it stays the same. It is annoying.
