I just bought another set for my other home. These are great and so so easy to install. I installed 1 motion detector on the ceiling outside my front door and I placed the other motion detector just inside my garage. You can mount them with a screw or just set them on a flat surface. The receiver part is plugged into a wall-outlet in my family room. Now, I know when a package/mail is delivered or if someone approaches my front door or comes inside my garage. I would say the motion detectors are weather-resistant but not completely weather proof. I've used mine covered outside for many years with no problems. The volume can be adjusted in many increments to a very loud chime all the way down to a softer chime. There are multiple choices for the type of tone/sound you want to hear. Some are musical tunes. I like the typical ding-dong sound and that's what I use. You would have no problem hearing the receiver anywhere in the house (even on the 2nd floor) if you choose to keep the volume at a higher setting. The motion sensors are battery operated and I get around 6-8 months with regular daily detections. (Tip-use a marker or label and write the date on the batteries when you install them). Negative reviews must've received a bad batch or they're installing it so that signal must pass through several walls to the ringer receiver because they don't understand how radio works. User error is almost certainly the primary culprit. I've been using these for 1 year nearly to the day and they work fine. Almost too sensitive and typically picks movement up from about 15-20 feet away, including the movement of trees in the wind which creates false alarms if you set them up in the wrong spot. I wish you could set a delay time after the ring before it is allowed to ring again as it usually rings multiple times while anyone is at the door. Took both sensors apart and coated their boards in silicone conformal then used caulk around the edge of the sensor window, taped up the rear battery panel, and mounting notch to improve weather/humidity resistance, then hit them with a coat of rustoleum on the plastic to improve UV resistance. Used one sensor as an automatic doorbell under a covered area; works great, still going strong. Put one on the north side of a tree by my driveway (to limit sun exposure) about 70 ft away from the receiver. The signal must pass through one wall and it worked fine for about 9 months rain/shine until the humidity got inside and corroded the batteries. These are not weather rated at all. That was a failure of my weatherproofing (tape I used eventually failed), not the sensor's fault. I am dubious about their distance claims, the end of my driveway is about 200ft away and line of sight passes through some light underbrush. It did not work at that distance unless I put the receiver on an extension cord and set it in the window to minimize obstructions in the line of sight and then it was somewhat spotty. I'd say anywhere under 100ft with minimal LOS obstructions it should work nearly 100% of the time, the closer the sensor to the receiver the more obstructions it will pass through. ... show more

    • A Very Charming Driveway Doorbell! Perfect Present! PERFECT PRICE! $$$

I just got this driveway doorbell (very quickly) and it says that it is weather PROOF..not just weather Resistant..so we will see this winter. I Gorilla taped the sensor (300 ft receiver capability) to a pvc pole that begins my long, curving driveway, in direct sunlight all day. (So it will be a test. I covered mostly everything with tape except for the actual sensor hole for protection ), The sensors and the Chimer/Receiver look very well made and modern, sleek and demure design, which I like. So far are working perfectly! They give you two sensors in the box. I only needed one so I kept the other as back up. I can't tell you how absolutely THRILLING it is now to hear the beautiful chimes when a caller is arriving! It's somehow like receiving a Present! I really LOVE it! Never be caught off guard again! ( I tend to nap in a lounge chair by a window that faces the driveway. Now, whenever I hear the chimes I can just get up and close the curtains in advance! No surprises.. HAH! Lovin' IT! ) Thank you soo much. It was Simple-Simon to install. Looks great. and WORKS just like the directions said it would. (just install 3 AAA batteries and you're good to go!) Something WORKS for a change! I'm deeeelighted!...so grateful to have this doorbell now! Whaat a HELPER!
