I read the reviews before purchasing, reading the pros and cons of buying this type of mattress. I went to a local mattress store and tried out their "hybrid" mattresses, not telling them I was sizing it up for an online purchase. This was significantly cheaper than buying from the stores in town. I read one gentleman's review that gave me the confidence to give it a try. He raved about how great the mattress was and would return to give updates along the way to inform whether it was only a quality mattress in the beginning and if it depreciates along the way type entries. I am happy to say, "that guy was spot on" - it's a great mattress. Yes it is a little different than regular mattresses - if you are trending to always sit on the very edge of the mattress (not fully with your knee and butt area all on the bed) you will feel what you think is a weakness and it's not firm (I assume this is normal, as the local store hybrid mattress was the same way...). You have to literally sit fully in the bed with your knees right up the mattress before sitting down to avoid this. Once you are in the bed it's amazing - it is not weak by any means, it is extremely comfortable. I have a bad back - birth defect - have had to sleep in a recliner for the last few years. This is the FIRST mattress that I can actually sleep on and still walk the next morning - I have thanked God nightly upon lying down because of the relief and comfort this mattress offers me. I primarily sleep on my side with some back positioning at times. My husband sleeps on his side/back/stomach and he likes the mattress also. We could not sleep in the same bed because of our varied preferences and needs in a mattress. We got the wild idea to buy 2 xl twin mattresses and put them together to build the king bed. It's PERFECT, we don't wake one another up moving around, can get in/out of the bed without disturbing the other one etc. My need for a firm/softer mattress and his need for a firmer/not as soft as my preference mattress was met in this one mattress selection -it's literally the BEST mattress we have ever slept on. HIGHLY recommend this particular mattress. ***I bought 3 xl twin mattresses - one for me/husband for the king bed and one for my elderly 85 yr old mother who said her back was hurting with the old mattress. We are all three very happy with our selection of this hybrid mattress that arrived in a box haha That alone scared me - arriving in a box? Who would have thought it would turn out to be such a godsend for us all? **NOTE: I was prepared to buy whatever mattress type I needed and whatever my husband needed - which is partially why we went to the mattress shop to test out all of the mattress types in person. I anticipated us to have different mattresses due to our history of hating the other one's preferences for a mattress...amazingly we both ended up liking the same mattress in the store over all other high-end mattresses (the hybrid won us both). I would have to say - this is a HIGH-END mattress as it definitely met the criteria of consumer satisfaction - which should be the ruling element in determining what is "high-end" and what is not. ... show more

The mattress was heavy and definitely needed two people to bring it upstairs. It was very easy to follow the directions to set up. After having it for a few days, we love it! It’s soft, but firm. High quality and glad we upgraded to a Queen from our full! Only thing is if you sit on the edge of the mattress it doesn’t hold up well. Otherwise would definitely recommend! ... show more

This mattress was ordered in a hurried move due to a POD scheduling issue when we had to bump our move-in date up by a week and needed something to sleep on, so I had concerns about ordering one that I had not really fully researched or checked out. But it is GREAT! The mattress is very plush/cushy on top, but when you lie down, it has a medium firm core of support. Hubs and I have both slept well with no pressure point pain on shoulders when side-sleeping, but also good lumbar support when on backs. I knew we wanted a hybrid mattress with individual coils for some firmness but also a topper layer with some softness, and this is very much that Goldilocks combo. Afer sleeping on hundred of hotel beds (travel for work and leisure ALOT) I would say that of all the matresses we've used, it is definitely in the top 5-10% only out-paced by a few really luxe splurgy hotel experiences. I don't know if it will hold up over time since we've only had for a couple of weeks, but we've noticed we wake less in the night (in our 50s.) It terms of firmness, it is not what I would consider a traditionally medium firm because the top layer is very soft, but the inner core is very supportive and doesn't leave you sleeping in a concave position. This mattress was about half the price of our last purchase of a major brand from Macy's and I like it better. ... show more

No smell. Expanded immediately after plastic was taking off. Looked fully expanded same day, wait 24 hrs before I slept on it. Soft but medium firm. Very heavy so definitely use 2 people.

I purchased this queen size mattress for my guest bedroom. It seemed like it was a good purchase, but after unboxing and setting it up, the entire perimeter of the mattress never expanded completely. If you try to sit or lay on the side of the mattress, it collapses and you fall off the bed. The mattress was listed on Amazon as having a 365 night trial, like all Dream Cloud mattresses do. When I contacted Amazon, they told me that it was too late to return the mattress, and that they did not do exchanges. After going through the fine print of my purchase, they agreed that they could issue a refund as long as I packaged the mattress and sent it back within 10 days. Obviously, you can’t package a mattress that weighs over 100 pounds. When I inquired about the 365 night trial, and getting a replacement, I was told that I had to contact Dream Cloud directly. Since Dream Cloud customer service was listed as an option for assistance with returns on my Amazon order, I reached out to them. Dream Cloud informed me that they have nothing to do with the purchases made through Amazon and that I would have to contact Amazon for any returns. When I asked about the 365 night trial, the Dream Cloud customer service representative told me that yes, they do honor that trial, but no, they couldn’t because I bought the mattress through Amazon. Huh?! I’m going to attempt to ship this mattress back to Amazon for a refund. Hopefully, a courier will pick it up as-is. I wasn't looking for a refund. I just wanted a replacement. I will definitely not be ordering any mattresses on Amazon in the future. All major purchases will have to be made directly through the manufacturer, so that nobody can play the blame game if/when something goes wrong. ... show more
