  • Easy to use, but...
I was impressed by the quality of the metal auger and it worked perfectly until I realized that the whole 25' had gone out. When you are feeding 4 - 6 inches at a time into your drain, it's easy to not realize how much has been fed down the drain. When turning the handle did not feed or retract the line I realized that I had come to the end of the line. I removed all six screws from the case and it looked like the end had just been in the handle. When I tried to put it back in the handle, it kept coiling up on me and refused to latch onto the handle. After messing around for about an hour with it, I finally just screwed the case back together and started shoving the line back into the case. So now I can't use the handle anymore to feed or retract the line but at least I can store the line in the case. The line needs to be secured to the handle better and it would really help if they painted a red line at the 3' mark so you know that you are coming to the end of the line before you pull it out of the handle. ... show more

  • worked on a 3/4 inch HVAC drain pipe
Recommended. An HVAC drain in my basement got clogged last night (first time in 15 years) and water backed up in the drip tray surrounding the blower unit and inside the blower housing. I had an 18" Drain Weasel that normally works well on drains but it either didn't reach down far enough through the trap or was bending and not going through the trap. I couldn't tell which but my feeling was the Drain Weasel was too wimpy/flimsy to push through the trap. This auger came overnight and worked well and quickly on the first try. I like that the lock screw allows the length to be adjusted and once retightened with pliers keeps the wire in place and forces it to turn when the housing is turned. It took a little effort pushing and turning but the head made it through the trap and then with some effort came back out. It seems a 3/4 " pipe trap is about the smallest trap for this head though others have said if needed the head can be cut off. When the auger came out the whole head was bend at a 15 degree angle where it meets the snake wire but I was able to bend is straight again. The head has about the springiness and give of a wall door stop coil. Job well done. If I never have to use this again it was worth the cost. ... show more

  • It gets the Job done
1. Did not expect to get such large globs of hair out of pipe for the first attempt. As a first time user, need to follow the instruction to get the snake through when it reached the blockage area. The picture shows the first attempt result, it encouraged a lot, I did better the 2nd time. 2. Used the plastic snake tools long time ago for sink, sink pipe is visible under sink, it gives me an idea where the blockage might be. For shower drain, the pipe is underneith shower pan, no idea where the blockage might be. in addition, the pipe size is bigger, so I choose the 25 foot long snake. 3. Based on the size of the smelly large blobs of hair I got out, I do not think the plastic snake can do the job. ... show more

  • Average
This product can unclog a small pipe diameter pipe but I have to return it because the clog in my rental home kitchen sink is more than 25 feet and I have to buy a longer one to unclog it. This is helpful for clogs below 25 feet in distance. I would have kept it if I didn't buy a longer snake auger. BEWARE: You need to screw it tight when turning it and hold it tight when feeding the cable into the pipe or it will spring out the cable fast which will create a big mess or may be lost in the pipe if you are feeding it in a vertical pipe. You may have an issue retrieving it. ... show more

  • Works great, be easy on it
Used this on two tubs and several sinks. Pulled out gunk the size of a large rat. Ran hot water after purging the drains with white vinegar & baking soda. Water now drains quickly. Take your time & be gentle with it as it's not a heavy-duty auger. Too rough and you might warp the extender. No need to call a plumber on small jobs with this around. Good purchase, satisfying to use. ... show more

  • Easy to use and did an excellent job
better than I expected. I was a little bit worried before I placed the order as it might end out that still I have to call a plumber. But it turned out not that severe. However, I still used about 20 feet to clear 3 major clog points. The process is awful , think about all the rust, dirt, hair and smell. But really pleasant and relieved when you regain a smooth drain with less than 30 bucks. The manual is very helpful, I did not watch any how to video, just following the manual is enough to get job done correctly. ... show more

  • Sneaky Snake slowly eats up clogs
I chose this snake auger for it's ease use, and because it's powered by hand, which I feel is safer for use on really old (1970's) pipes/plumbing. With it, I was able to able to dislodge whatever junk (from above unit's construction) was clogging the opening of the T junction where my kitchen sink drain joined a main stack in my building. My only complaint with this product is that the spiral end, where debris collects, is difficult to clean. Would be nice if a brush were provided to help with this. Overall, very happy to have purchased this, and hope that it lasts a long time without rusting. ... show more

  • It works
I tried all the DIY vinegar and backing soda, the gross stick for hair. Temporary fixes. This was a little tricky to get past the curves in the pipes but it worked. It pulled it out so it actually removed the clog. Cheaper than a plumber!
