    • Sturdy construction.
This auger works exactly like other ones I've used. You pull out the snake and push it down the drain to your clog, pull it back up, lock it, put it back down the pipe, and turn the handle to wiggle it around. It does a decent job. The materials seem nice enough—the snake coil itself is metal, and while the handle is plastic, it seems strong enough to stand up to repeated use. It has a drill attachment that I didn't use, but it may make life easier for stubborn clogs. It is pretty heavy, but there's no getting around the fact that 50ft of steel coil is going to weigh a lot no matter what you do. I did think it was nice it came with gloves. Always use gloves for this kind of work—drains are disgusting, and if you put liquid corrosives down the drain to try and fix the problem prior to using this, you could burn your skin. It also comes with a sturdy zip-up storage bag, which I like. The bag has a handle for easy carrying. It might seem expensive, but the cost is nothing compared to getting a plumber. That being said, this is for minor clogs, and if you have a major problem in your lines, like tree roots, that will be above this tool's pay grade. Every homeowner should own one of these. Although I have not yet had an opportunity to use this snake my first impressions are this: The cable is heavy duty, the case material is thick and feels professional. I do however question the retaining clip and thin plastic handle. The cable protrudes out far enough so that you can attach a drill instead of hand cranking. It comes with a lightweight carrying bag and some rubber gloves. As far as quality, I find it to be comparable to other snakes in this price range. ... show more

This is definitely a heavy duty auger. It's bulky and weighty. If you have any type of arthritic issues with your hands, wrists, or shoulders, you may have a problem handling this. The auger itself is very sturdy. With the drill attachment it should sufficiently power through small clogs. My issue is that it is so sturdy it wouldn't bend around the first joint under my sink. I’m for sure a newbie at this. Both of my showers are clogged. I’m really tired of paying for a plumber so I ordered this. I was going to use my drill but got a little afraid so I figured I would hand crank it for my first try. I was able to get it into the pipe and crank it. My only complaint is that you have to hold it by the handle and it’s very heavy. That made it difficult for me but I pushed on. I was able to unclog my drain quickly. It worked great. My bathtub was a different story. After you remove the drain catch there is a metal X on the drain that is not removable. I had a very hard time getting the snake in there. I was able to get the top part partially in then crank the snake and it coiled in. Problem: my pipe takes an immediate 90 degree turn. The snake couldn’t make the turn. We will need a plumber for that one. I’m super happy I was able to get the shower done. This is a really good product. ... show more

Already used it three times, and boy does it work. Once you get past the learning curve while using the drill. Beyond that: It has good reach. It definitely clears the drain. It is heavy, but not uncomfortable. It is easy to use. Its drum to handle to feeding end all work as they should. The gloves were a nice touch.     • Heavy and awkward, but works well.
The auger works exactly as advertised. We were able to use it to clear a long, almost 20 foot path, through our kitchen sinks drain. It was clogged with two decades of grease and calcium. The path it created was small but it allowed us to get a foothold for a later, more thorough high pressure water jet cleaning. I see this auger as all other augers. It's there to create a small hole through your junk. But, in most cases, it's not a permanent solution. Maybe, perhaps, if you're trying to pull out some hair. The drill attachment works but is a little awkward. The handle on the auger gets awfully close to the drill handle. But, again, on my drill, it works. Also, related, the auger itself is quite heavy duty and heavy. So, in regular situations, you have to be careful how you handle it. The screw-stop part of the auger works well and allows you to apply a small amount of force to the auger when inserting it into the drain. This isn't a unique feature, but it works well on this model. Final Verdict: Approved. My drains are clear again, thank in part to this auger. No major complaints. The handle seems like really thin, cheap plastic but the rest of it seems solid and durable. Nice bag and some gloves as a bonus.
