This review has been updated twice. I hope you will read it thoroughly before making a judgement on whether to buy or not. I'll start with the bottom line, which you will see at the end ...... So, the big question... would I buy another? Knowing what I know, for what I do with it, I might, for me, but not my 91 year old mother. Most of all I appreciate the great assistance I got from the Dragon Touch support team. They deserve the 5*. Original Review from about September 17th, 2020: I just bought this tablet 1st of the month and right away noticed there were lines across the screen that look like a piece of paper was laid on top and then left there until the lines etched the screen. I thought it was only visible when the tablet is off, but it's all the time. I asked if anyone else has this issue and no one, so far, has said anything but a resounding NO. I contacted support and because it works, they won't take it back despite the mfg flaw in the screen's surface..... so am I impressed, NO. Also the battery life is no where close to what is reported along with the fact that in some places it says batter life is up to 10 hours, then on a comparison chart with others, I think it said 5 hours. 5 hours is probably closer to what I am getting and I just play scrabble, message with my family and play solitaire for the most part. Would I buy again? NO and only because the support is AWFUL. Oh, I must add... that though they would not take it back, they offered me a $10 credit., Yippeeeee ..... I'd rather have a device that doesn't have a defective screen. $10 is just an insult. Update: I am upgrading my review to 3 star from 1. After close to 2 months of use, other than the screen, it performs well other than the random times when the tablet goes into the dragon touch screen for no reason known to me. I don't know what it's doing at that point but end up turning it off and then back on. And I will also note that I have recently found out I was not talking to Dragon Touch support when I called, but to Amazon's tech support...... So I can not fairly say that Dragon Touch offers poor support. It was Amazon tech service that threw the $10 credit at me. It's not fair of me to rate this device as a 1star because of poor tech service from Amazon.... and as I stated above, with the exception of the original screen issue and the intermittent Dragontouch screen popping up, I have been satisfied with the tablet. Would I buy another Dragon touch, that is the bottom line question..... and now I'm not sure . I suspect the screen flaw is just the luck of the draw, so to speak, but performance wise it's given me no real complaints. Additional Update: October 30, 2020, I've upgraded my review twice now... from 1* to 3* and now changing it to 5* . It only came to my attention this morning that this device will NOT WORK properly for video chat programs for some people. At least that is what I stumbled on this morning in the question and answer section. One of the BIG reasons to have gotten this tablet hinged on the ability to communicate in Facebook's messenger with my sisters and mother. If this device worked for me well, I was going to purchase the model with the HDMI port so my 91 year old mother could connect to her TV. Well, that won't work if the video programs don't work. However, I found that using a headset, FB Messenger does work.... ( I have not tried bluetooth), I can actually hear in skype and I can hear in messenger, bUT not without the headset plugged in.... why that is, I have no idea, but using a headset doesn't bother me in the slightest. So what was a 1* review is now a 5* for the reasons I have shared here. Tech support was there, you just have to communicate with them and please don't leave a review thinking they will contact you--- YOU need to step up and make contact with DragonTouch and they will respond. SO for the great tech support I got in resolving the BIG issues at the time, they get 5* . So, the big question... would I buy another? Knowing what I know, for what I do with it, I might, for me.     • Very good at a good price
My wife decided she needed an upgrade from her 8” tablet to a 10” with more memory. Since Asus (our current 8” & 10” tablets) don’t seem to be upgrading their line-ups with current products shipping with Android 6 or 7 - and my current tab bought last year only upgraded to 7 on start-up and nothing since - we started searching. We spotted quite a few of the no-name chinese tablets and the Dragon Touch tablets kept coming up as well. The chinesium didn’t look too bad and usually had 4+ stars with maybe a few hundred ratings but the Dragons have 2k+ ratings. As I usually feel more (ratings) is better I went with the Dragon Touch Cons - Google search bar stuck on Home screen. The Google Assistant seems to be pretty well baked into the OS and I can’t seem to get the search bar off the Home screen. It maybe isn’t a big deal just kind of annoying that it takes the entire top row of the Home screen so I’m calling that a waste of screen space. Camera app sucks. I couldn’t even find a settings menu in the app to make a few basic adjustments such as turning off (or at least minimizing) the shutter sound and changing the resolution. Yes, it has a few basic editing functions like cropping, color adjustments and a self-timer. But EVERY other device I’ve ever used has the abilty to have a silent shutter and adjust the resolution. This device won’t be used as a camera very often and there are alot of other camera apps in the Play store so it’s likely only a minor annoyance. No split screen function. Our other current tablets (Asus) allow some apps to function in a split screen so that I can have two apps running at once. Maybe that’s just an Asus embellishment I can’t say as the only tablets I have alot of experience with are the Asus. It’s another small thing but it is a function I use quite a bit. Pros - Price. At a bit over $100 it’s pretty hard to beat for a 10” device. Anything else in this price range is either a smaller screen or less memory/storage. No bloatware. At least that I can see. Most other devices have an app list as long as my arm with the manufacturer’s name in front. Do I really need another app to control the theme of the home screen or to “manage” something that can already be managed in the Settings app? I don’t think so, so not having 10 apps load at start-up in the background should be a plus all around. Flashlight. There is actually an LED next to the camera that acts as either a camera flash or a flashlight. I don’t recall seeing this on any other tablet, either that I’ve owned/used or that I’ve seen other people use. I shouldn’t forget to mention the price. After the first week the wife is pretty happy with this and you can’t beat that. ... show more
