  • glad I read it. leaves a lot out tho
This is a good start for the series. I was curious about Super and decided to start reading it. My only issue is is that i feel the story skips around a lot. It's assuming you've seen the movies, so I guess watch those before reading this but I still liked it. Fast paced and it gets to the point. I just wish it covered Resurrection F as well ... show more

  • Last time on Dragon Ball Z...
I'd been looking forward to this since the anime started airing in 2015. It feels very fast paced and its a nice continuation from where Z ended with the defeat of Buu. (spoiler warning) First off, this 1 volume covers a lot of ground, very quickly. It assumes you've either seen the movies or watched the anime since those came first. In the Z mangas, arcs like the namek/frieza arc and the androids/cell arc would span multiple chapters and volumes. That made it feel like the story progressed naturally without it going too fast. You wanted to keep reading to see what would happen next. In this volume alone, it covers the Battle of Gods arc in about 3 chapters, and basically goes over the Resurrection F arc in literally 3-4 panels... and then goes straight to the Universe 6 arc It covers all that ground a little too fast for my taste. I get it that the anime came first, but those arcs at least spanned 13+ episodes each. That could have been recreated with great artwork across at least 2-3 volumes, but instead either rushes it or glosses over it. I'm not sure if this was Toriyama's idea or the artist didn't want to do all that work, but I'm hoping the remainder of the Universe 6 arc, the Future Trunks arc and Universe survival arc are spanned out with more care and not just glossed over so we can get great fight art Despite my complaints its still great to have a canon continuation to the end of Z. The art is great, very faithful to Toriyama's original work. There's some entertaining dialogue evocative of Toriyama's spark when he was writing Z, and overall, its still a great first volume to have on the shelf. Can't wait for the second volume to sit there next to my first on the shelf ... show more

  • Damaged
Let's try this again since my reviews keep getting flagged and taken down. As a collector, when I buy something that's listed as brand new, I'd expect to receive a brand new book in excellent condition, and not a book that has been damaged.

  • quick pacing, good quality
interesting, diverges from the anime. battle of gods arc goes by much faster and honestly some of the charm of beerus is lost. resurrection F is only mentioned in passing and is basically skipped. I’m alright with both of these factors because I imagine toyotaro would rather you just watch the films in their full glory and then continue on to the rest of the story which is well paced and comfortable (the Universe 6 arc) this manga is not bad at all and idk who could be toriyama’s successor if not toyotaro. champa and vados are introduced to the reader much sooner which is good, especially to help flow from battle of gods into U6 Tournament. I suppose my review sort of stands for the whole Super manga as a whole, but I would recommend buying it. (Unless you already have Super on DVD, in which case honestly you’re not missing much. If you don’t have the anime, though, definitely get the manga and watch the show for free online somewhere) ... show more
