  • Deliciously sublime
Scent: Lavender Size: 12 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I could not love this stuff more! This soap smells amazing, even better than their original lavender castile soap; the lavender fragrance is somehow deeper and more complex. The consistency is very creamy, the lather luxurious. The lather is even fabulous when I put it in a foaming soap dispenser at a ratio of 1:5 with water. It is just yummy! I am a longtime fan of Dr. Bronner's original castile soap, which I've been using almost exclusively since college (and we will not talk about how long ago that was!). I discovered this soap while I was searching for something gentle, non-drying, and natural for the super-sensitive skin of the 93-year-old lady I was working for. She needed something for hand-washing at her kitchen and bathroom sinks, but she'd tried Dr. B's castile soap and wanted something more moisturizing. I had never used this sugar soap, had never even heard of it until I found it on the shelf at my local natural grocery store, but I got her a bottle of it to try. She she went crazy for it! Meanwhile, I was using it every day while I was at her house -- and needless to say, I fell in love with it, too! A couple of years later, that same lady I worked for asked me about body wash, because she was unhappy with whatever what she'd been using. I reminded her that this soap is a hand *and body* soap (and showed her the label to reassure her). I think she was skeptical, but she really liked using it in the shower, too! I know for a fact that she's used nothing but the sugar soap for hand-washing since then, and I'm pretty sure she's never tried anything else as a body wash. I had originally used the shikakai hand and body soap that the sugar soap replaced, so I was a little apprehensive about this "sugar" version, but honestly, I couldn't tell a difference between the two. I'm still a huge fan -- and I sound like a walking advertisement for Dr. B's! Sometimes I find Dr. B's original castile soap to be a tad too harsh for hand soap (I know! Sacrilege!), because the skin on my hands is SO much more more sensitive than anywhere else, especially when I'm having a bad flare-up of eczema. So I've replaced it at all the sinks in my house with the sugar soap. I have kind of a problem with too much hand-washing, but the only side-effect of this is going through so many towels! Under "normal" circumstances, this soap doesn't dry out or irritate my hands at all; it actually feels moisturizing, and my hands feel soft afterwards. Even when my eczema is really bad and everything hurts, this is much less irritating than anything else. I've only tried two "flavors" of this, lavender and lemongrass-lime, but I imagine the others are just as awesome. I'm a huge fan of their original peppermint castile soap from way back, and later became completely addicted to the lavender. The lavender sugar soap is just as addicting, if not more so! I have some in my bathroom and guest bath, and the lemongrass-lime is at my kitchen sink. I would like to try some of the peppermint the next time I need to "reload" -- if I can tear myself away from the lemongrass-lime and lavender! ... show more

  • Great for all most everything... My skin says "thank you".
Scent: Lavender Size: 12 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
The lavender scent is pleasant and feels nice when applying, as well as the after effect on the skin. My skin loves this stuff! (I tend to have dry, bumpy skin, but not since using Dr. Bronner's products - and a really good shower filter.) However, not so great for my hair. It seemed too thick to get it down to my scalp, where I need it most/only. By the time I got it to my scalp it wouldn't lather anymore, and it's a little too harsh for my curly hair to let it sit that long while working it in. I went back to using the brand's liquid castile soap for washing my scalp (gets straight to the scalp and washes out quickly). So, while this sugar soap claims to be a catch-all - I don't recommend it for hair (at least not for curly hair). Otherwise, it delivers as promised - healthy looking/feeling, hydrated skin. (If you have hard water (high chlorine and other contaminate levels, or well water with heavy metal, etc) and don't use a shower filter - don't blame the product for 'not working' - get a filter!) ... show more

  • really helped my hands
Scent: Lavender Size: 12 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I have used other well known soaps on the market that most everyone would recognize by name . I can get cracks on the ends of my thumbs that are very painful and such an inconvient area to try and bandage. This soap has been great for my husband and I . I know it is a bit pricey but well worth the money. I use everyday and have it in both bathrooms and in the kitchen ... show more

  • Good hand soap
Scent: Lavender Size: 12 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
A really moisturizing soap, but oh that scent! The lavender essential oil used for this is of poor quality, which is fine in a hand soap, but it has a very sharp, bitter smell, typical of cheap essential oil. Not a deal breaker, but disappointing for what would otherwise be a great soap. This time it didn't pay to cut corners! ... show more

  • Good for anxiety
Scent: Lavender Size: 12 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
After using this product for about a month I fell in love with it. The lavender if very soothing, and leaves you feeling very fresh and calm. I have severe anxiety issues and this soap really helps in the morning, although I would not use it on your hair.

  • My New All In One!
Scent: Lavender Size: 12 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
After using this product for about two weeks i found that one, it lathers very nicely. Two, the smell is nice. Not great, but nice. And three, immediately after rinsing, the soap leaves a rough waxy feel on the hair and skin. After fully drying off, however, the hair and skin is very soft and the hair has a nice sheen. It does not dry out the skin as much as other commenters have mentioned, but because there is the removal of dirt, sweat, and whatever else the day has left on your skin, a slight dryness is inevitable so a good moisturizer will continue to be required in your daily regimen. The reason for the four stars instead of five is because of the consistency of the liquid as it is just about as thick as milk and could be a bit thicker for better spreadability. Other than that, this is my new all in one full body cleanser. No more wasting money on separate shampoos, facial cleansers, and body washes! ... show more
