I've bought other Sharpro bits and they have always worked well for me. This wasn't any different. I use the same feed and speeds as my top dollar Amana bits and it works just as well. It doesn't have the fancy blue coating but for a fraction of the price I'm ok with replacing it a bit more often. The down cut bit left a nice smooth edge on the cheery project I was doing. I used this on some plywood and it did great with the downcut, keeping the tearout to a minimum. Value wise, well, it's OK. I think you can probably find a better value elsewhere. It did come nicely packaged, in a good quality tube, with a bonus rubber hose protecting the flutes. I'm fairly impressed by that. The only problem I saw is that the tube itself wasn't protected, so there's still a decent possibility that people are going to have product arrive damaged. ... show more

I run CNC carving gear to make custom signs, plaques, cutting boards and furniture parts, so when I saw this downcut bit, I knew I had to try it -- and I was not disappointed! Because downcut bits make clean top-surface cuts, I wasn't too surprised by the quality of that part of the job; it was the superbly smooth edge surface that impressed me. Very few CNC bits -- particularly 1/4" diameter ones -- make repeat cuts (I go 1/10" deep on each pass) that stack up perfectly when cutting through a 3/4" or 1" board. This one does, while producing extremely even-sized chips. I had no tear-outs, no knocked-out knots, and no burnt spots. Will definitely order more (if this one ever wears out)! ... show more

This bit was packaged very well. It was in a nice hard plastic housing with a compression holder (better than the cheap ones) and had a rubber cap on the end of the bit to protect the flutes. Nice touch. I love that it's a 22mm cutting length! This will cut cleanly through 3/4" material (in multiple passes of course). All but the more expensive bits are too short for this sort of operation. It cut smoothly, with the downcut leaving a nice finish on top. It had no problem operating as a plunge bit. It's a little bit expensive, but so far seems worth the money. We'll see how long it lasts, but seems to be good quality material so I have no reason to believe it won't last a good while with proper treatment. ... show more
