    • Research Carefully As This Phone May Not Be What You Need - Or Want
Since I bought other DOOGEE products, I had high hopes and expectations for this phone when it was delivered yesterday. This phone excels in terms of hardware, but like many things, minor issues can be bothersome—and this phone is not an exception. The setup for this phone was not simple. Using a USB cable to copy from another phone did not go without a hitch. I had to stop and start the process repeatedly until it eventually went through. Then, the bugs and quirky things happened. The characters on certain menus were difficult to read because they closely resembled the white background. I had to download a jet-black wallpaper to get most of the menus legible, and I noticed I said "most." There is not much "tweaking" with this phone. You have a limited number of options for doing anything. The font size and screen size options are microscopic or tremendous! It would have been great if there were some extra settings available. There were technical issues, and tech support lied to me about whether the NFC would read CGMs (constant glucose monitors). I use the Libre 2 System. It does not read the sensors. The sensors for screen orientation are quirky. If you hold the phone upright and tilt it just a few degrees, it jumps to landscape mode without delay. When you move it back a few degrees, it goes back to portrait mode but then goes right back to landscape mode. This is really super irritating! Again, you are very limited in your options for ring tones, message sounds, and alarm tones. The default clock on the home screen only exhibits European standards and lacks the option to switch to US standards, such as month, date, and year. Users have to download other widgets to get this feature, but most widgets either don't fit into the screen or can't be used. You need to tap specific areas to access the settings screen and modify your widgets, which is quite frustrating. It is a matter of screen sensitivity. Additionally, when I switched from macro to picture mode in the camera settings, I had to reboot my phone because it wouldn't switch back. So I did it again, and I had to keep switching screens before I got to actually scroll back to picture mode. The list goes on and on, and while they are minor issues, taken together, they make this phone virtually unusable for people like me! ... show more

    • Promising phone, but has severe software caveats.
The phone in itself is actually solid. Great battery, absolutely durable, gets the job done pretty well. It's mainly stock android, it performs most basic functions most 5G phones perform. Camera performs pretty well, though it isn't anything spectacular like say, Samsung or Apple but this isn't meant to be running against name brand. However, The sim tray is flimsy, and upside down naturally. Pulling it out too much can cause the metal piece to start bending and ruin the seal on the phone. The phone definitely has networking issues on USA T-Mobile. At times I have to pull out and re-insert the sim card because it'll suddenly disconnect from the network but not show that it is, and I can't send messages until I reboot or I reinsert the sim card tray. Performance is not as good as it sounds, the phone does have a built in system manager and ram monitor to clear cache and keep it optimized, however the phone at random will spike to 8 GB of ram consumption for no reason. Duraspeed, even if forced off also will attack apps you're using. Sometimes, Messages and my browser will stop responding midway through while using them, because it's trying to save ram. The 20GB expendable ram storage option doesn't really do anything, the phone seems to heavily depend on the 12gb of ram it's given more than anything, you would think this would help with lag spikes but it doesn't. Against a budget phone like say, my old Moto 5G 2023 which was a complete potato, this thing is amazing. But if you're coming from a more premium phone, this phone will miss the mark. For rugged phones, the specs are solid but the software leaves a lot to be desired. ... show more
