I took this kite to the park for a test flight and it performed pretty well, considering the wind was inconsistent. So I have high hopes for it at the beach or on a windier day. It’s nicely constructed out of ripstop nylon, lightweight, with very vivid colors (we ordered the rainbow one) and a long, beautiful tail. It assembles and disassembles quickly with two-part fiberglass spine and cross-spars that are held together well by the tension of the kite frame. It packs into a compact form factor and would be very easy to pack into a backpack or tote bag, as everything fits (snugly) into the included carrying case, which has a Velcro closure. I’m no kite expert, but the included twine (which comes on a plastic hand spool reel) seems like it’s tough enough to withstand some use and abuse. The only minor criticism I have is that the clips that connect the string to the keel and the tail to the kite are a little finicky and require a bit of manual dexterity to operate. I think something more like a carabiner clip would have been easier to use. Overall, very satisfied. ... show more

This kite can really take a beating. We had strong gusts of wind, nothing steady so we crashed it several times. Got it stuck in a tree. It got ran over by a car, we drounded it in the lake and its still all in tact. Its a tough little kite. It was pretty stable without the tail but if we would have had a steady breeze the tail would have made it a little more stable. It wanted to spin around and do some flips while it was up, but all in all it was fun. Easy to put together and take apart to put away for next time. It has over 200 feet of string which is a bunch! Cheap thrills. The kids loved spending the afternoon at the lake even though it was chilly. But they had fun and it wore them out so it was a great choice for review. Its always good to forget the world to be a kid again for a minute. Good medicine for the soul. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I recently got myself a Kite to play around with.. so found this one to get my husband. My Kite was not really wanting to cooperate. But once he got this one assembled it took off. The video and photo here is of the Kite at its full string length! . ... the downside, it took about 20 minutes to get it back, and a ton of strength. My husband said we will need to get different string reels because this one did cut his hand up. Seeing how much he fought this... I would be concerned about a kid trying it. But I don't know that a kid would try to get it that high up This was a blast, nonetheless! It had been years since we tried to go fly kites, and I think my husband had a blast with this one! Given the wind we had out there, and how high up it got, I have no doubt about the quality of the materials! The little trail is much longer than I expected. If going out to a windy area, it may be best to assemble it before getting out the.. that was a bit of a struggle to do, but taking it down was quick and easy! ... show more

Still holding out for some great "kite-flying" weather. The kite is super easy to put together and looks sharp. Our little ones are anxious to try and get this kite flying. Still waiting for the wind that we need to get it high in the air. One HUGE bonus is that this kite has great length and strength in the string that was included. The handle is wide enough for all hands and yet, there is a "notch" that makes it easy to hold on for those smaller hands. Colors are bright and will make it easy to spot in the sky. As an amateur, infrequent, kite flyer, I can honestly say that I really like this kite. First, the rainbow colors are very bright and show up so well in the air. It is sturdy enough to stand up to 20 mph plus wind gusts that came its way one day, per the online weather site. I really ordered this so that my granddaughter and I could take it to the beach and have some “old fashion fun”. That hasn’t actually happened yet but as I try it out in the nearby school fields, it flies easily, beautifully, and, dare I say, it makes me feel not quite my age.
