  • Super easy to set up with the app and upload videos or share
The app is basic but very functional. Super easy to use. The video quality is great. You can choose between 1K 2K and 4K video quality as a wide angle on the front cam. I can see both reflector mirrors on the hood of my semi and the complete horizon going forward. The rear view camera is sufficient. The only drawback I would say is the split screen is really small when you have both the front and rear cameras operating at the same time and I haven't found the setting to switch between them. I'm sure it's on there. I just haven't haven't dug into those settings much. Also, the ability to put in a much higher SD card if you want is a great advantage, although not necessary as it comes with a good amount of storage. The suction cup works great. So does the little mounting racket. You can aim it pretty much wherever you want and the video is not very shaky even in a bumpy a semi overall, quite pleased. ... show more

  • Great, affordable dashcam w/customer service
With all the crazies on the road and scary near-misses on the interstate, we wanted a camera to catch the action if necessary. Didn't want to spend a lot, but something that works. This little camera does the trick. It does capture clear images. It doesn't feel cheaply made, was easy to install, and works with an app on your phone. Note: if your phone is linked to your car, you have to disconnect it to connect to the camera. It does accept a large SD card to save a lot of video. I recommend buying little adhesive clips to route the cables, which are inexpensive. The 24hr monitoring requires a hardwire kit, but all you have to do is email customer service with your Amazon order number and they'll sent it for free. And that process was fast. I got mine within a few days of my email request. Overall, very satisfied with my purchase. ... show more

  • Decent dashcam, good image quality. Needs image rotation setting and better frame rate for the rear.
The media could not be loaded. This being my first dashcam I don't have much to compare it to, but from what I can tell it's decent. Doesn't have night vision, so you'll need some sort of lighting to see anything. The front camera is definitely way better than the rear camera. The front is smooth and has really good quality, while the rear is pretty choppy and a bit grainy. While it says it records in 1080p it looks like the frame rate is super low. I've included a video to show the difference. I think my least favorite feature is the bright blue light that's constantly flashing while it's recording, and when it's not recording the light is on all the time. Probably not too annoying during the day, but at night it's pretty distracting. I will be putting some tape or something over it. Installation was fairly straight forward, just takes a little time to get everything routed neatly. The only real issue I've found so far is the camera can rotate left/right and up/down, but only the up/down rotation is lockable and left/right isn't stiff enough to keep it from moving. That said, it doesn't bounce around or move while driving so maybe not an issue. Cable length (power and rear camera) could also be an issue for anything bigger than a midsize SUV (I have a 2020 Ford Edge with a rear lift gate). I had to install it on the passenger side of the windshield for the power cable (cigarette lighter style, shown in picture) to reach my power port, and even then it just barely reached. The USB power cable that comes with it is really short (about 3ft). You could use an extension I suppose if that's how you need to power yours. The cigarette lighter style power cable also has a USB plug on the back so you at least don't completely lose that power port, which I found useful since I had another device that I needed to use that power port for which thankfully also included a USB power option. The rear camera cable was just barely long enough to go under all the trim and reach the plug on the dashcam. If you have a sedan or smaller SUV then it'll be plenty long enough. If you have a large SUV (anything bigger than a Ford Edge) then this probably won't work for you, although I ran the cable down along the floor and then back up to the roof. You could probably run it all along the roof and get quite a bit of cable length back. I suggest testing the rear camera video before you actually stick it to the window to get the orientation correct. I had to flip mine around because it was upside down. They do include an extra sticky pad, but I was able to carefully peel it off without issue. There's a setting that will mirror the image for the rear camera horizontally, but not vertically. It would be nice to have an image rotation option in settings, then you can install the camera however you want. The instruction book was pretty easy to understand, though there are some translation/spelling errors. They included a QR code to an installation video and the app. The app works ok. I think I'd prefer a Bluetooth connection instead of WiFi since you lose data connection when connected to the camera, but it's not meant to be a full time connection, just to review/download videos, look at GPS data, or change the few camera settings they have in the app, so probably not too big of a deal. You can see and manage all the recorded videos and screenshots (press the M button when it's recording to take a screenshot) in the app. There's an emergency video album as well, which I imagine is for when the camera senses an impact, but you can't delete those. I'm guessing the only way to delete those is by formatting the sd card. You can change some, but not all, of the camera settings in the app. There's a screensaver setting that turns the screen off after a certain amount of time. I imagine this reduces the amount of heat the camera puts out. You can also short press the power button to turn the screen off. If you long press it then the camera turns off. It retains that state next time it connects to power, so you'll have to manually turn it back on again. You can flip between front camera, rear camera, or a squished combination of both cameras by pressing the down arrow. Overall not too bad. I wish the rear camera wasn't so choppy, but it's good enough to capture anything that happens as long as there's light. I'm curious how it'll hold up in summer since the instructions say not to leave it in direct sunlight. Kind of hard to do that since it's stuck to the windshield, which is in direct sunlight often. ... show more

  • Focus on features you actually use/need
Frequent Amazon customer, rare Amazon reviewer. But this product is worthy of a review. If you read the reviews already posted, you have a good sense of the pros and cons of this unit. Try to resist the temptation of all the bells and whistles of higher-priced units. Focus on what features you need and will actually use. First and foremost, I wanted a reliable recorder that was straightforward to install and that had decent image. Check. Second, I wanted a back-facing camera. Check. Third, I wanted an easy way to interrogate the videos. Check (the phone app). The value-for-money with this unit is excellent. Some cons, though: 1) the screen is small. You won’t be looking at it very much, but when backing up I hoped I could use it to spot people/cars/animals etc. behind me that mirrors don’t show. The quality of the screen is okay for that but the lighting in my car almost always poses a “glare challenge” (too hard to see the screen in strong light; works fine at night); 2) the instructions could be improved; and 3) I would make “WiFi” the FIRST Settings option, it’s the only setting you access often. Some pros: 1) I discovered how easy it is to snake cables throughout my car (…who knew?); 2) most design features are well thought out and intuitive; 3) I was skeptical that I “needed” a 4K camera up front, but you *do* want that level of detail with the wide-angle lens used by all dash cams; 4) if you have worked much with microcontrollers, then you will be impressed with the multi-tasking this unit can perform (very stable code); and 5) the unit is tiny and I appreciate that it does not interfere with my forward visual field. ... show more
