  • Fun little toy
Color: Gold
Its cool to play with. The battery life is subpar, and it has died within half an hour repeatedly, but its a fun distraction for a little while. Not the most intuitive to work with though.

  • Fun little drone. Great value.
Color: Blue
Disclaimer: I own a DJI Mavic Pro, and started out with a Holy Stone quadcopter. I've flown smaller ones like the DJI Spark and the DJI Tello, which is similar in size. I would say that for the price, this is a five-star drone. You get a lot for 35 dollars. Compared to other drones, I would say that there are certain improvements that could be made but those drones are much, much more expensive. Pros: Small manageable size - the drone is quite small, which is nice because it lends itself to indoor flight and easy travel. It is about 4.5 inches by 4.5 inches for a length and width, and the diagonal rotor distance is about 5 inches, while to entire copter stands at about 1.25 inches. This, as I said, is nice for indoor flight and you don't have to worry too much about hitting someone. You can also easily launch it and land it from and on your hand. Robust and reasonably crash proof - The blade guards proved themselves quite useful, as I bumped it into walls several times, and the guards did their job. The copter simply bounced off the wall and continued flying. Additionally, when I was testing it, the drone died while flying. I knew this was coming, as I could feel the responsiveness beginning to slow and the flip function would no longer work. The drone fell from about 12 feet in the air onto the blacktop. I didn't notice and dings, dents, or scar=tches, and once it was charged, it flew fine. Quiet - The drone has a shrill high pitched sound as it flies. It isn't too loud, and I could talk to those next to me while flying without having to raise my voice while the copter was only a few feet away. Auto-flip function - This is fun. Executed, the drone flips in your specified direction, rolling quickly left, right, forward of backward and returning to hovering once completed. The flip function does not work once the battery drops below a certain percentage. LED lights for battery and connectivity - These are easy to see when on the ground and display info about the battery when charging or low, and connectivity when first powered on. The rear lights are green, and the ones in the front are red, but they can be hard to see in daylight once it gets more than about 30 feet away. Good range. I flew the drone about 70 or 80 feet away laterally without any problems, and about 40 feet up before coming down for fear of wind gusts. It worked fine, with no noticeable latency. Headless Mode - Great function for learning pilots, especially for a drone like this that has no camera feed. However, the instructions are quite confusing on how to engage this and it took me a solid 5 minutes of fiddling with the controls to get it to work. To get this to work, take off, hold the button a the top left of the controller until it starts beeping, and then push the stick forward. The forward-facing direction will remain that relative forward until this function is disengaged. Cons: Disproportionate flight to charge time ratio - According to the user manual, this charge time is about 70 minutes, while the flight time is around 5 minutes while hovering. I, however, found that it took about 35 minutes (charging for a wall outlet) for a full charge from dropping out of the sky dead. The flight time that I got was about 6 minutes, doing maneuvers, flips, climbing, falling, accelerating and decelerating. Still, I think this could be improved, and, as there are no removable batteries you can plug in once another is dead, I make using the drone for more than 10 minutes hard. Poor wind resistance - This thing blows outside with the slightest breeze. Inside, the flight trim is hard to adjust, and outside, it is not worth it. I found myself constantly adjusting to compensate for any wind. Instructions aren't very clear - I found myself struggling to engage Headless mode, as well as find things within the manual. There are occasional typos, and the layout is confusing. Joysticks don't articulate much - This is actually somewhat annoying. there isn't much height to the sticks, and they don't move around much, making any more precise movements difficult. Additionally, the other buttons on the controller are somewhat difficult to press. I liked this drone, especially for the price. This would be great for any kid, or even as a starting copter for someone who wants to see if they are interested in them. I like the size, durability, and flip function, but the battery life and wind resistance are something to consider. ... show more

  • The SYMA X20 drone is great for kids and beginners
Color: Gold
Note: I may have been compensated for reviewing this product. Please note that my intent is to provide an honest, objective review. This review is for the following: "Newest Syma X20 Mini Pocket Drone Headless Mode 2.4Ghz Nano LED RC Quadcopter Altitude Hold Gold" Pros: -This is a good stable flyer and is great for beginners. -The drone has a "headless mode" option making it easier for beginners to learn to fly without the confusion frequently experienced with radio control when your aircraft is heading toward the pilot. It is also quite helpful when flying outdoors where it can be difficult to determine which direction your conrols move the drone. -Has permanently attached propeller guards (guards are a must for indoor flying where collisions with objects are likely) -Comes with one complete set of spare propellers. -Comes with a screwdriver to open the transmitter battery compartment. -This is a great beginner's drone. I purchased one for my 5 year old grandson 4 months ago and he mastered it in no time! -Has a 1 key take off and landing mode. This is great for smooth starts and finishes to your flight. Cons: -Rather short battery life ... but not really much different from many drones. I get around 5 minutes of flying time. -The drone battery is built-in ... you cannot swap-out batteries when the drone needs recharged. It becomes a cycle of 5 minutes of flying followed by 40 or more minutes of recharging. -Marginal for outdoor use. On days with more than a light breeze it is easy to be overcome by the wind and lose control. -The "Pressure-fixed-position hovering function" can cause "porpoising" when the drone is flown very low to the ground. This is most often noticed during takeoff and landing. (Use the auto take-off and landing button if this becomes a problem for you). Tips for using: -Best flown indoors ... This a small drone that is easily affected by air movement. Fly outdoors at no more than a gentle breeze. -Start out using the "Headless Mode" to simplify learning the controls. Once you have mastered that mode, you can switch to the standard mode if desired. Headless mode is definitely recommended for outdoor flying. -Use the automatic take-off and landing button ... especially when flying outdoors. -Avoid flying outdoors in any wind stronger than a "gentle breeze". Otherwise, you may find yourself looking up at your drone caught in the top of a tree or worse! -If you need to replace a propeller for any reason, pay close attention to the pitch (direction of slant) to make sure you correctly match the one you are replacing. -These drones are great at collecting hair around the propeller shaft. If you experience strange control results when flying, check for hair or other foreign objects that may be caught in the propellers or around the shaft to the motor. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this drone. This is the 4th SYMA X20 I have purchased ... my grandkids love these!! Happy flying!! ... show more

  • No flight time
Color: Gold
It charges for 90 min and flies for 5. Quite disappointing. I have many micro drones, RC cars, planes, helicopters, etc., and I am realistic about battery capacity and run time, so I am an expert. I like micro drones when sitting on the couch to zip around. It makes my wife nervous it will end up in her hair..lol. That's fun. But this will be sent back due to minimal flight time. ... show more

  • Fun
Color: Blue
So I purchased this for my kids to give them something to do in the house when it’s raining out while they’re on summer break let’s just say I’ve been having so much fun with this drone that I’m not sure I want to give it to them now 😂. Definitely a good toy to keep everyone entertained.

  • Pretty good but watch out!
Color: Blue
The first day we got it my son was cut, but of course he’s only 4 and I guess we should have gotten a safer enclosed one. I had no idea they could hurt so bad…I got hit as well. I think it works well though, for the most part. Didn’t do well outside in any sort of mild breeze. Paint layer started coming off right away as well. But it’s still running as of now and that’s more than I can say for the last two we bought. ... show more
