I initially bought a cheaper sort of off-brand drone. I returned it almost immediately and bought the DJI mini 3 (fly more combo). This is a great little drone. Small enough to not require FAA registration. Capable of flying great distances due to frankly amazing battery life and respectable transmission range. It has a theoretical maximum range of 10 km but I've only had it out to 6-7 km and that was from a significantly elevated point. This drone is very easy to fly but it has the performance and subtlety of control that allows for some fairly acrobatic flying, though nothing like an fpv drone - the tilt angle is always going to be limited. Good camera quality and some "quick shots" features that allow one to take semi-automated video shots in different patterns. The DJI mini 3 does not have any obstacle avoidance feature which does come on the DJI mini 3 pro, for a little more. I have lost RC signal a number of times and each time it has obediently flown back on its own until signal returned and I could take control again. With the 3 batteries, each lasting easily over 30 minutes without cutting it close (30% or so still on the battery) and a recharge time of just over an hour per battery, you can fly this thing almost continuously. This thing rocks in every way. I was never into drones, but putty my house on the market and needed drone shots of the land. One guy quoted me $150 for just pictures. I was like heck I can buy a drone and learn to fly it for less than that. I got one of those cheapy no name ones on here for like $80 well you get what you pay for. It wouldn't stay connected to take pics would blow around with the wind sent it back. Said forget it spend the money buy the good stuff. It cost about 10x as much but was worth every cent. This thing is amazing. Pictures are gorgeous. Super easy to fly and figure out. Doing the test run with the cheapy one probably didn't hurt any though. But this dji mini 3 is spectacular. My only gripes about it which may be theyll change on future versions. 1. I wish you could zoom out the camera, yes you can fly further away but I was scared to take it that far first run or that high. 2. I wish you could record and take pics while recording like you can do on some cell phones. If there is a way to do this I couldn't figure it out. 3. It's got this booster pack to charge 3 batteries, but it will only charge them one at a time and with a USB cord, you have to provide your own plug. For this much money it should come with a plug, or even better straight plug to an outlet and charge all 3 at once. Some tips, watch a YouTube video or two of starting out. Do not plan to use it the day you get it. All the batteries need to charge up to become active (probably overnight) and you have to set up an account, register stuff, downloads firm ware updates and install them. So set up to start takes maybe an hour and first charge of all the batteries and remote like 6-8 hours, I forget how long. But you're not going to open it up and go fly so just a heads up there. Drone works great! Did not come with power supply! You will have to get the power supply to charge the battery and controller's battery! As well as the cable from the power supply to the drone. Drone flies great, and is really easy to control. It has a return to home function that even if your phone dies or somehow gets disconnected from the controller, the drone will return home. The only thing that could be better is the battery life. It only lasts about 30 minutes. Even with multiple batteries, I still feel that it would be troublesome. Otherwise a great drone and we really like it overall. Would buy for anyone that is interested in starting the hobby. ... show more
