Bought the product as a gift for my son that is 4 years old. Even though he is younger than the recommended age for using it doesn’t matter. I love that it allows my child and me to do so many different types of experiments so he can learn many different things as well as having fun doing it together. I bought this because, you know, the virus and the kids at home get bored easily. When my daughter saw the instructions, she was disappointed. There were no pictures or anything that would make it visually appealing. There were just numbers and minimum instructions. And the experiment booklet was only 2 pages. The experiments worked well (some of them), but some were boring. Wish I could send a picture but the camera isn't working. So word of advice, get this for kids above nine years old.     • Discovery Normally has excellent kits
I buy a lot of Discovery Chemistry kits. Unfortunately, this one was a bummer and I was working with a 7 year old birthday boy. One, the gold bar that was supposed to have different hidden gems only had one kind. I made that work. The second thing that happened was his crystals that were supposed to grow have not. He comes back in two days and NOT one ounce of growth and I am NOT looking forward to how upset he is going to be. He wants to be a scientist that brings back dinosaurs and is VERY serious about these crystals. Again, I have used these kits before (especially for kids with special needs to keep busy) and it has been hugely successful. I am not sure if this was just a bum kit but with kids you can't get it wrong 2 x in one kit. I will say I have it a three stars because each of the kids was so in love with all the parts and the gems that come in the box it was worth the money for the gem box alone. Here's to praying a gem suddenly grows out of nothing in the next 2 days!!!! If not, we will have a long convo about patience and science. ... show more

This science set kit is very cool, but you cannot do all the experiments as they only send enough chemicals to do some of the listed experiments. That being said, we were able to do a large amount of them, and they were really fun to do.

This was a gift for my niece. She's a budding scientist and wants to know how EVERYTHING works. This was an awesome choice. She absolutely loved doing all the experiments. I'm definitely buy it again.
