  • Impressive
Color: Black
This machine was way more than I needed, and I was super intimidated to try it out. First, it's huge and heavy, a lot bigger than I thought it would be, especially from front to back. It's not that tall, but it's deep and wide. Second, it's gorgeous! It looks like you've walked into an Italian cafe. The styling and construction is just beautiful, but then, there are all the knobs and settings, which is where I started to get intimidated. The water tank was pretty standard for an espresso machine, so that was a relief to me. I was happy that it lifts out, which makes it easy to fill and keep clean. After that, to make my first cup, it took a lot of trial and error. I read the instruction manual front to back and still needed to keep referring to it while setting the temperature and using the machine itself. Once I got over the fear factor, I found success! The coffee doesn't taste much different from my older machine, but it looked much more impressive being made, so if you want a chic look and experience to making your coffee, this is your machine. ... show more

  • Prosumer Espresso Machine -- Awesome Statement Piece!!
Color: Black
This machine catches EVERYONE’s eye as they walk into the kitchen. It conveys a serious interest in coffee – and it delivers!! A great conversation starter. The machine has an absolutely beautiful finish. The water and steams wands have a deliberateness to them – with form meeting function. The oversized wooden knobs are a classy attention to detail. The brew group is sturdy and solid which has stood the test of time (E61). This generation has a computer on it – which is quite handy. First, I changed it from Celius (made in Italy) to Fahrenheit which was easy to do. Then set the steam temperature to 248F. Note: you are setting the steam temperature on the display – which equates to a brew temp (water) of 201F and is perfect for most. From there each 2F move in steam temp results in about a 1F move in Brew temp. You can also set pre-infusion and other power mgmt features – but I haven’t used yet. This machine is a tinkerer’s paradise. The water reserve is very well sized. It will last for weeks if you are just pulling a couple of shots daily. Obviously less time if you like to use the water for Americanos or steam milk frequently. There is no filter in the water reservoir… so we are filling ours directly from the fridge water (filtered). The manual indicates you’ll never need to descale if you used filtered. The portafilter is a generous 58mm. Make sure your accessories match that size. The experience of pulling a shot: - The pressure dial is very easy to read and clearly indicates when you are in the correct range (green) - For espresso: we do 20g beans, 40g water with a 30 second pull. o The machine’s shot timer starts as soon as you open the valve. o My Acaia scale starts timing as soon as the first drop hits the cup. o A lot of religion there – as whether to start timing when the water hits the beans or hits the cup. Between 20-30s at the cup or 30-40s on the beans seems to be about right. - Enjoy the aroma… and the complexity of flavors (you’ll pick up on fruits, chocolate, etc.). Anyway – really great machine. I would highly recommend it. It not only is a great espresso machine, it really is a kitchen designer piece. That written – it takes some practice to pull a perfect shot. Modifying the fineness of the grind plays a huge role. But once you get your bean of the week dialed in you get a nice predictable result. You can really get sucked into playing with all the variables -- great pastime. Enjoy some pictures of us trying to pull a prosumer shot at home. I’d say my grind is still just a little too fine. (Note: the scale, grinder, and black portafilter funnel are something I highly recommend but are not included.) ... show more

  • Fancy
Color: Black
Ok, this took forever to arrive and I've never had such a fancy machine before. It was much bigger than I was expecting, and we are still playing around with how to use it (I am still using my Ninja Coffee Bar for my morning coffee) but so far, it seems really nice, although it takes us (I mean him) a long time to get things going. I will update once we figure out all the in and outs of this. ... show more

  • The Ferrari of Espresso Machines
Color: Stainless Steel
Wow, I have always wanted an espresso machine which truly makes great espresso at home but never thought I would find one like this. This machine from Diletta Bello is a beautiful piece of sculpture sitting on my counter AND it makes professional barista quality espresso drinks. I am not a newbie to making espresso, but I also am not a pro by any means. The instructions that come with this machine are specifically for how to operate the machine. There are not specifics for how to make drinks, timing or temperature for drinks, how to steam milk, how much water in an Americano (etc.), or what pre-infusion actually does. You must find this out elsewhere (google is a great help here). After a bit of practice, I have started finding my preferences for all of these options. That is not to say this is a difficult machine to use. It looks very intimidating up front because of all the valves but it is actually incredibly easy. Fill the REMOVABLE water tank (yay!), let it heat up (10-15 min), get your very finely ground espresso beans ready and tamped into whatever shot size basket you are wanting, fit the basket group with your coffee into the big round thing in the middle (it has a name, but for the purpose of simplifying this, just know this is where your coffee goes) and do NOT grab the round thing to steady your hand for it is extremely hot, stick your mug under the double spout and let it rip! VERY helpfully, there is a timer on the front of the machine that starts as soon as I flip up the handle to start letting espresso out. This has helped me figure out things like my preference for a plain double shot at 17.5 seconds and a triple shot for a latte at 22 seconds. In case you have a hard time figuring out the shot baskets, I attached a photo with them in order of backflush, 1 shot, 2 shots, 3 shots. The difference between 2 and 3 shots is hardest to tell but if you study them closely you can see the 3 shot has room for a bit more coffee. Also, the brew group thing that holds the baskets holds them in VERY securely so you don't risk bopping the basket into the trash when emptying the used grounds. No burned fingers here. Yay! I used a plastic knife to help me pry the basket out (so I could change it) the first few times. The spring that holds it loosened enough after a few changes that I can get the basket out with just my hands now. Steaming milk - keep your hands out of the way. Steam hot! (In case you didn't know.) Keep the end of the steamer just under the surface of your milk for the frothiest of froth. Also know that getting nice and fluffy and foamy steamed milk takes some practice especially if you are using dairy alternatives. I have found there actually is a good reason to get the barista version of oat milk because it foams a lot better than my regular oat milk. The hot water is... hot. Yep. I love that I can set mugs or shot cups on top of this to keep them warm. Daily cleanup is very easy. Weekly cleaning is also pretty easy I just have to remember to do it. Backflushing the pump is not hard to do and takes less than 5 minutes. I'm happy to do it to make sure I have many long, enjoyable years with my machine. There is absolutely nothing less than amazing about this machine. All it takes is a little practice and patience and this machine will elevate your espresso drinking to heights you never dreamed. ... show more
