  • Don’t Waste your Money “update”
Style: for 4 system
I got this plugged it up to my car. It was supposed to do transmission scans. Only thing that ever came up was! If I could leave zero stars, I would want you to return it 30 days and then offer to give you a partial refund. keep your money. It’s a piece of junk. dollarFix got a hold of me asked me if they could resolve the problem. I told them what it was doing. They offer me a full refund and are going to work with me with their technicians to help solve the problem. I got to say I would highly recommend this company and this machine it might have some hiccups, but in the end, it will all work out new things come out on the market all the time and they do have quirks and hiccups as long as the company works with you to resolve the issues then they’re OK in my book. ... show more

  • Works well - Overkill if you're just trying to read codes
Style: for 4 system
If you're just trying to read engine codes, then there are many less expensive options to choose from. For myself I also wanted to be able to do an ABS brake bleed and that's just not a feature you get in a budget ODB2 reader. This device worked well for me and it was nice to be able to get a full list of monitored values in a single screen. My budget reader only let me see two values at a time. The various values all come up one a single screen with standard high/low for your vehicle and the text goes red for any value out of range. This device also detected errors that my budget reader never reported. It reports that my passenger side blinkers we're having an issue. And they absolutely had been hyper-flashing due to a loose connection. I also found a screen that indicated I had recently had 3 misfires. Very true. I felt "something" three separate times on a recent 600 mile trip and was thinking maybe those we're misfires. I'm not wowed by the interface though. Since the device is new to me, I was exploring trying learn which screens to use for which features and when navigating around in the main sections, it stops to rescan and redetect your vehicle. I think that the vehicle detection should only need to happen once and I should then be able to navigate everywhere in all the app sections without a rescan. ... show more

  • plug and play
Style: for 4 system
Amazing OBDIi scanner full of automation perfect for the technically savvy as well as the rest of us. Fire it up, and it behaves much like a modern gaming console. Basically, it goes through the standard first-time setup tasks of setting language and time, connecting to your Wi-Fi, updating firmware, updating software, then downloading most recent codes from all the manufacturers in the little database. I imagined this taking quite a while, but the entire process of downloading and installing everything took only a few minutes. Once that is done, the scanner is ready to go. It’s plug and play from there. The menus are very simple and intuitive, and most of your vehicle’s data is automatically downloaded the moment you plug in the device and grant it permission to do so. You can still search through a database of manufacturers, makes and models if you like, but this device is set up to make things easy, not hard. Let it do its thing. From the main menu, there are 8 modules you can work with including: Diagnose, OBD, History, Maintenance, File, Instruction, Update and Settings. See what I mean by intuitive? I plugged this into my ’17 Silverado, which is running perfectly, and ran a couple of different system scans. At one point, a couple of older braking system codes were discovered and easily cleared after first looking them up on the internet right from the device using the Wi-Fi connection and touchscreen. After verifying nothing was currently wrong with my truck via a couple of forum entries and a Youtube vid or two, I easily cleared out the two braking system faults. My truck’s dashboard info screen toggled the traction control indicator light off then back on in a sort of confirmation alert. This sort of process usually takes much longer using a basic code reader, then using my phone to search for the information the old fashion way. Let’s face it, Auto Mechanics these days are basically IT techs. The average new vehicle has 10-20 different networks with anywhere from 70-100 individual electronic control modules all talking amongst themselves. Diagnostic computers like this are as necessary as the socket wrench when trouble arises. There are OBDII scanners out there way more advanced with ridiculous capabilities compared to this device. A good friend of mine who owns a mechanic shop pays monthly subscriptions to Ford, Chevy, Dodge etc. to interface his professional diagnostic systems with their databases in order to keep the vehicles he works on up to snuff when it comes to the most recent, and sometimes original coding. This world will allow you to dive as deep in as you would like, but most of us just want to be able to read a fault code or two when they are triggered, and perhaps perform a few basic maintenance tasks. Think of this device as the iPhone of the ODBII scanners. It offers way more features than an inexpensive basic scanner. And sure, the Android versions are much more flexible and sometimes more capable, but I’m just not an Android kind of guy. Keep it simple, automate as much as you can, give me some extra capabilities that make sense given the Wi-Fi connection and let’s find and fix those bugs. This one is right in that Goldilocks zone. Only gripe, no speaker. If you’re hitting up the YouTube links, just turn on the closed captioning. ... show more
