Solid once it is put together. Since it is a plastic material parts snap together very tight. Screws used only for lids and a cover for exposed plastic. (screws also for bottle opener and small side container) Directions are not clear and if you miss a step you have to put some muscle in snapping pieces together. Had to remove a piece that I had snapped together by mistake with a screwdriver. The fit was that tight. Even after prying and bending the plastic with the screwdriver plastic stayed intact. We didn’t like that it has a plastic lining material that clips onto the actual cooler. We prefer the insulated hard lining coolers. We kept it because it was $27 to return It does look nice and has storage underneath and bottle opener
