  • Sturdy design, easy to install, does its job
This is a pretty good unit for the price! I've had it for about a month now, I have it down stream of a DIY moisture trap I built going by misc designs online, so far no apparent moisture at the tools. It was easy to install, seems like filter changes will be easy as well, and seems very well built. I would recommend for someone in the same situation as me, just a DIYer who is wanting to get into some paint and body work. Check out the paint guns, as well from DeVilbiss! ... show more

  • Works great for powder coating
I’ve had this filter unit in my powder coating business for five years now and it works beautifully. For those with high humidity I can tell you that you need to have at least some way to condense the vapor in line. I have a home built condenser and an electronic air drier before this filter drier. Works awesome. ... show more

  • Good product as long as you take it apart first
This is a good drier as long as you can keep the dessicant cartridge attached to the top piece. When you first get it you MUST take off the top and be sure that the cartridge is attached firmly (with a butterfly nut that is supplied). When I got mine it was not attached at all and I sprayed a bunch of paint before I realized it. I am not the first who has had this problem I realized after reading more about it. Otherwise works well and is a good price. ... show more

  • The right filter for a great paint job
I am a rookie DYI person when it comes to body work, I am a Master Mechanic with 20 years of experience in euro and import cars. I paint my car ( my first paint job). Well turns out that because I did not a proper filtration system, my first try was a miserable failure. So for the second try, I bought this filter and also replace my compressor for a 60 gallons one, and I can tell that the air coming out the hose is nice, dry, and clean. So I recommend this for everybody, it comes with a good regulator and a shut off valve, also it have a drain valve at the bottom. I don't regreat this purchase at all, and best of all it came in 2 days ! ... show more

  • Do you paint? Buy this!!!
This filter is amazing. I have a small set up where I paint and refinish engine bay components, interior trim pieces, etc. I always struggled with getting small craters or specks in the paint no matter how thoroughly I cleaned the parts. Now that this filter is inline there is nothing getting through to the gun except clean air and paint. No more dimples or garbage in the paint anymore. After the clear is applied I am done. No need for wet sanding the nibs out because there are none. This was the smartest $200 I've spent, and wish I had done it sooner. As I said, I run a small one man operation, so I can't speak to this unit on a large production scale. But for light duty use this is exactly what you need to keep the clean air flowing and paint coming out perfect. ... show more

  • Expected better for $250
The outlet of the regulator uses a 1/4" npsm male fitting. I wasn't able to find an npsm fitting to connect it to my compressed air line system. However, if the male npsm outlet fitting is unscrewed from the regulator itself, you will be left with 1/4" female NPT threads which can easily be connected with a 1/4" male NPT fitting. The white pipe putty that comes on the fittings leaked air on two of the connections. I took everything apart then wrapped all threads with Teflon tape. This sealed all of the connections that didn't come assembled from the factory. The fitting that goes into the regulator (installed from factory) leaked a small amount of air. I used vibratite green wicking thread sealant to seal that one up without disassembling it. The turning action on the regulator feels like it is grinding when the pressure is adjusted. I opened up the regulator to find rough threads in the regulator assembly. Hopefully, this will get smoother with use. For now the regulator action feels cheap but it works. I've run two 80 gal tanks of air through it. So far so good with no leaks. ... show more
