This was a good purchase. My older Dremel was having intermittent problems with its on/off switch. You had to flip it just right for it to turn on, so I just figured I'd replace it since it was older anyway. This was a cost-effective replacement. It feels sturdy and I love the upgrade to the keyless chuck. The flexible shaft attachment is a nice bonus. I also really like the case -- it's sturdy and the clasps work better than the ones on my Dremel case, where one had broken fairly early on and wasn't working. I wish I had moved on from my Dremel sooner instead of messing around with it and its flaky switch, especially given the low price of this package. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. The Depstech PowerTool DM 180 is replacing an older Dremel MotoTool 395. It has the same basic design as the Dremel but slightly more powerful. The Dremel is 5000-30000RPM and the Depstech is 10000-40000RPM. It is a bit heavier and longer than the Dremel. The Depstech has a dedicated power switch and separate dial to adjust the speed that I found easier to control than the Dremel all-in-one slider. For finer work you want to keep the power level down to 4 or below since it vibrates at the highest speed setting, however for finer work you probably would want to use the flex-shaft. The power cord is a reasonable length, and I didn't detect any run-out in the tool or the flex-shaft. It includes a good assortment of bits for starting out - cut off wheels, sanding drums, polishing pads, grinding stones and carving bits in different shapes. It has several size collets that you tighten down with a wrench and also has a twist type chuck if you change bits frequently during a job. The end of the tool is threaded where you can add accessories like the dust shield or flex shaft. The flex shaft works well and is about 3.5' long. It seems to be compatible with all the Dremel bits and accessories. It comes in a hardshell plastic case that feels sturdy but not sure how it will hold up in the long run. Overall, it feels well-made and good value considering it includes the flex shaft attachment. At the price buying the Depstech was a no-brainer. ... show more

Well made but seems a little larger than the Dremel although not much. Smooth speed control. All of the Dremel attachments I have fit. Blowmold case is a nice touch and handy. Great value in this especially with the bits, sanding discs etc.

I bought this rotary tool kit because I wanted to do some DIY projects at home, such as carving wood, drilling holes, sanding furniture, and making crafts. I was impressed by the features and accessories of this product, and I was not disappointed when I received it. The rotary tool itself is very powerful and versatile. It has a 180W motor that can deliver up to 40000RPM of speed. The fact that it doesn't user a battery makes me happy and feel it's powerful enough for a lot of tasks -- some people might prefer a battery powered version though. The kit comes with 128 pieces of accessories. To fully use it, you can refer to the chart for instructions and inspirations! Oh, make sure to wear eye protection and a mask when using the tool, as it can produce dust and sparks. Overall, I think this is a great product that offers a lot of value for money. Overall, this is an excellent product, regardless of price, but as it happens the quality exceeds the price. The famous-brand product has nothing on this unit, and this unit is, in some ways, better (in my opinion). I took one star off, however, because they did not include replacement motor brushes with the the kit, and the seller/factory does not even offer them for sale. As you know, when the brushes wear out the product can no longer be used, unless they are replaced. I did, however, locate replacement brushes (Dremel OEM Replacement Part # 2610009829-2PK) that should work with this unit. Of course the brushes should not need to be replaced for quite a long time, as this is a new unit. When the time does come, if you don't know what you are doing, do not attempt to replace the brushes. Let someone who knows do it for you. ... show more
