This light assembly is pretty close to the stock unit, and has decent bulbs (Osram) in it, but I did notice a couple of differences. The bulb reflector doesn't have theVW logo design, just a circle. The stock unit has covers on the bulb connections. This unit has exposed wire connections. If the outer covers remain intact, you should be fine, but if you are familiar with your Volkswagen, you know that the Germans love them some covers on everything under the hood. My mk4 Jetta wagon has a cover on the crank pully, the seat rails have plugs, the O2 sensor connector has a housing... several examples of this kind of engineering in these cars. If this type of thing is important to you, buy a Hella set. I gave four stars on the assumption that this will work fine, will edit if I experience otherwise. ... show more

    • One worked, one had bad wiring

One side arrived in good condition, the other had a wiring problem, and the city bulb wouldn't light. It wasn't the bulb, we even replaced it. It's a large package, but they handled the return/replacement simply enough. My Jetta's headlights are no longer all yellowed and cracked.

    • Great Product - Beware of connector's poor design by VW though!

This was overall a very easy install on our 2006 Jetta Mk5. The bumper cover and grill come off in about 10 minutes using the correct torx bit and an impact driver. But the VW connectors. Oh mother of god those are a pain. First they gave exactly 1/2" of extra length in the wire loom, and then designed a wire connector that has a clip that is virtually impossible to get free. I watched videos, I did research, I tried everything. It seems like the connector is designed for single use, because who would ever need to replace the headlight assembly. But I digress. This product is great, and no fault of this product for VW's engineering debacle. It took 10 minutes to get to the headlights, and bout 45 minutes to get the wire harness to release. I had expected to be disappointed because its an aftermarket light and I was replacing OEM one but to my surprise this headlight impressed me; both in performance and appearance. I have in the past purchased other lights for other cars online and the light was blurry and unfocused that I had almost lost all hope to get a good light online. This light works like the OEM if not better. My car looks much newer and cleaner and now I know that good lights exist online. The same review goes for the passenger side light.
