This is all aluminum and feels really solid to me. The welds look really clean. There is a little assembly to do but it's easy. Just a couple hex screws and it's in one piece. The mount to the kayak is some lag screws. This probably limits the weight it can handle but for a kayak you probably can't go too heavy anyway. I like the length of the arm as it allows you to mount it nearly anywhere. One thing to note. The ability to pivot the mount plate is limited to 90 degrees. There is a square collar that you turn the plate in. You can't set it to some diagonal. Still if your motor rotates fully that shouldn't be an issue. Looking forward to warmer weather to get some better use of this. ... show more

This trolling motor deck mount is almost perfect, and my only gripe is that they didn't blow out some of the metal shavings. This mount has the ability rotate 90 degrees, which really helps with mounting. One of the problems that a lot of motor mounts have is the amount of torque produced by the trolling motor. The bars are just not strong enough to handle it, but this bar is. This Feimire bar, which is made out of commercial grade aircraft aluminum, and can handle the torque without any twisting of the bar. It works much easier if you are attaching this to a composite or plastic boat/kayak. I am doing a DIY project using molli mounts on my inflatable kayak. The build quality is much stronger than what I anticipated, and it is priced very competitively. This is the perfect angel that I needed for my DIY project. I am more than impressed with the way that the mount is made, and it even allows for support brackets if needed. Compared to the leading manufacturer, this is equal if not better. So this kayak trolling motor mount Is a great addition to an older style kayak, like mine. It did take some time to install , but not hard . I did add some braces inside the kayak and drilled through the kayak and through the plate of the trolling motor mount. It was not because the mount was not sturdy enough. It was because the kayak was never meant to have A trolling motor mount on it. So I needed to sandwich it all together.     • Great small trolling motor mount
This deck mount for an electric trolling motor is extremely well built, lightweight yet very strong. It assembles quickly with Allen wrenches and it should mount easily to the bow of my little boat or to the rear of my kayak once I take the time to do so. The included hardware is quality but I will need to use something else for either of the applications I have in mind for it mainly because I'll be mounting to plastic or sheet metal instead of wood. If mounted to my plastic kayak I will be using hull nuts or rivnuts and if I attach to the bow of my little boat I will be using nuts and bolts. Definitely recommend this as an affordable option that is definitely better than clamping it to the hull edge of a small aluminum boat ... show more
