Took a more comedic less serious approach but still a great game. Graphics are good and the gore is the best we’ve gotten in a zombie game. Combat is good too just don’t expect much from the story. My biggest gripe with the game is the combat card system I much prefer the original games level system which is similar to something like far cry 3 or fallout. Love this video game very much. Had the opportunity to get it during Black Friday for cheaper and worth every penny. Have been playing it for hours nonstop. Love the graphics, the amount of weapons you can use on the zombies and etc! You can play single or multiplayer as well throughout the game which is always a bonus. Waited so long for this game! I really enjoyed it. The story and side missions were really fun. I have about 70 hours in the game and I got the platinum trophy. Really satisfying slashing up zombies and how bloody it gets. Really recommend if you like gore and zombies of course

This game is addicting and fun! I spent countless hours playing through without breaks. My fav character is Dani, a pure Irish brute of a woman. She can bash through the undead while saying some pretty hilarious things. Her lines have a lot more personality too which makes her Irish pop out a lot. The other close character that has good dialogue is Jacob. The rest just didn't sound like they tried. The story could've been better. It ended with a cliffhanger which irritated me. The graphics are amazing, it made me feel like I was playing a graphics demonstration that I shouldn't have my hands on yet. Very impressive! Lots of gore too!     • One of the most fun games I’ve played in a while
My favorite PS5 game. Lots of fun, can be creative with how you beat zombies. Once you’ve encountered all enemies and beat the game it does become repetitive but it’s still a very enjoyable play through, now with the added DLC for extended story. Highly recommend

Here's my social media mini-review. -------- I'm not sure anybody expected this to be good; or at least THIS good. I loved Dead Island and DI Riptide, even though I recognized they were pretty janky. DI 2 isn't perfect (a few minor glitches, plus missing detail like mirrors without your reflection, a big wall of DVD cases with many copies of the same few titles), but it feels big-budget, triple-A, and well-polished; surprising, given the development hell and multiple studios it apparently went through. But wow was it worth the wait. I was hooked at the start but just a few hours in when I made it to the movie studio level, I was totally in. It's set on everybody's favorite island, Los Angeles. Seriously though, this lends way more variety to the environments and missions. Fun story. Great characters. SUPER fun gameplay. I loved it. ... show more

I enjoyed the game. Too short for me honestly. I could’ve swore the original Dead Island had way more to it. I LOVED that game, played the hell out of it when it came out. This one is unmistakably Dead Island. Awesome to see a game not lose it’s character after it took so long for a sequel. But, I’ve almost platinumed it in less than 40 hours.. The last two trophies being an insanely difficult move where you kick three zombies down at once. And the other being earning $1,000,000. I gave up because the kick seemed impossible after trying for hours a night for weeks. And the million bucks is extremely difficult as I quickly burnt through every quest and side quest available after only about 18-20 hours. The only real way to make cash is to keep matchmaking until you find someone lower level that still has quests to complete. Which at max level, rarely happens. It is very fun, and with friends I can see it having more playability. But if I wasn’t shooting for platinum.. I would’ve been done with the game within 20 hours. That’s not worth a next gen price tag. Future DLC should’ve been in vanilla. I’m not paying for DLC as I can’t justify putting any more money into a game where the base game is beaten so quickly. Great game, great combat, great weapon customization. Just way too short ... show more
