    • FINALLY...a Helmet for My Head!

I've been searching for a helmet (bicycle, motorcycle, etc.) that would fit my head for the last 35 years (since my college bicycle/moped days). I have 24.5" head, but it's also more oval than round shaped front to back, so that makes my head size actually much larger than the 24.5" of a measuring tape. Fast forward 35 years to the present and I just bought a cargo ebike (Rad Power Bikes RadWagon), which actually more moped/motorcycle than it is bicycle. I really love this ebike, but having 35 more years of common sense (and feeling a lot less immortal) I knew I really needed to be wearing a helmet with it. After still failing to find a skateboard/bicycle helmet for my head, I decided to search for motorcycle helmets, specifically the half helmet/skullcap type, which wouldn't look completely overkill when worn riding a fat tire cargo ebike. On a long shot, I actually searched for a 66cm helmet, but I practically did a little jig of excitement finding this helmet with an almost 69cm 4XL size! And not a bad price either! I still had my doubts though as I waited for it to arrive. I took it out of the box, put it on my large dome, and hallelujah! It actually fit! Yeah, I look a little like Toad the Mario Kart character with a bit of a mushroom head, but hey -- it's a helmet for my had that took 35 years to find! I'm extremely happy with my ebike, but even more so now that I'm not risking my life riding it without a helmet. All that said, the helmet is also very well made, very comfortable, excellent chin strap (easy to operate putting it on and off), not too hot (I live in N FL), and although I don't know how well it would do in a high speed motorcycle crash, I feel it will protect me very well in a 25mph ebike crash. About the only thing negative I can say about it was really difficult to snap the visor on the helmet. Other than that -- perfect. I would gladly pay 2x the price for this helmet, and I was actually looking at plenty of bicycle helmets that actually are 2x the price. ... show more

Took a risk buying the “used, like new” option for way cheaper $$ and the decision literally paid itself off. I got this Dayton helmet for way less and after receiving it and trying it on it went from my second option helmet to my everyday helmet. I would paid full price with zero regrets. Got the helmet in 4XL. I got a huge head and it fits great! I tried on Harley Helmets and this helmet not only fits better but was a fraction of the price. I didn't see pictures of the inside and still took the risk, yet another risky decision, but the helmet didn’t disappoint, it is well padded, light weight comfortable and very durable. I can honestly say I feel safe in it. The most impressive feature of this helmet in my opinion would be the chinstrap. Instead of a button up it’s a quick release clip chin strap pull buckle! Definitely more functional ! The mat black is definitely the way to go if your looking for something to decal and make your own. It’s a great color, true mat black. And no I don’t work for the company, I’m just a really satisfied customer that wants his brothers and sisters riding to get a good deal and great helmet! You won’t regret it! ... show more

This helmet fit pretty well out of the box and has better profile than my previous half helmet which I purchased from Leather up. I love the quick release buckle as it makes it easy to secure and remove the helmet as needed. The only downside to this helmet is that even though it has a much slimmer fit, it still gives you the mushroom head look. Overall, a good helmet for the price. I bought this on a whim (I mean, who could pass up a good deal...I only paid $13 for a $63 helmet because the packaging was messed up. If I could find deals like this every day on Amazon I'd have many helmets haha!) So, I have the large size. It feels nice on my head. Fits well. So far my only problems are 2 things. First is my ears: they're squashed! The helmet literally bends my ears down because there's no room for them to go inside the helmet, and no "cut-out" per se. Really nowhere for my ears to go besides squashed lol. (Maybe I need the medium size...even though it's pretty snug with large. Idk.) My 2nd problem is adjusting the straps. I can't seem to get it right. I did pull all the excess to make it tighter, and slightly adjusted the straps via the side mechanism. (Might just need more time fiddling with it...or maybe I do need the medium size. Or possibly I just have a funny shaped head haha!) It's made well! Great! I'd say if you're checking out one of these Daytonas, you won't be disappointed. ... show more
