Description

Air-Dryr is an inexpensive and effective way to fight moisture problems, cold drafts, and corrosion. Designed to operate anywhere, 24 hours a day. Place Air-Dryr on the floor in any damp, enclosed space and plug into a 110/220 volt outlet. The damp air is heated to the point moisture is held in suspension (above dew point), then released through the top vents of the device. As warmed air rises, cooler damp air is drawn in, where it too is heated. Air- Dryr costs no more to operate than the burning of a light bulb. A thermal cutoff turns the unit off should air flow be impeded.

  • SO quiet! Not a small item, though...just FYI!
This is incredibly quiet to operate. You can be standing right next to it & not really hear that it's running. It's definitely larger than I expected, so keep that in mind when order (if it matters to you). We're using this in our camper, so it's a BIT of an issue for us. Generates just enough heat to help w/ humidity, but not enough to make a space uncomfortable in warm weather. And doesn't seem to get too hot to touch. I'm not sure I'd feel safe putting it on a carpet, even though it says you can. No water tank to empty, which is lovely! ... show more

  • Been using them for years. Good as new.
I've had 2 for more than 10 years ,which I never turn off, and they never fail. The additional ones that I recently bought for other rooms appear to be identical to the first 2. I have also had those running nonstop since I bought them. The moisture in my bathroom is of course very high after showers. and the Dryers dehumidify really well (measurabvly, with a moisture gauge before and after). I have 2 of them in the bathroom but one would probably be enough. I also use them in both bedrooms. I like having them on the floor continually dehumidifying because my house is old with the original old permeable wood floors. I think the new ones are a different company but they appear identical. I called the company (Davis) to ask questions and a live person helpfully answered my questions. ... show more

  • Keeps the cat warm and drives away mildew under bed
I got this dryer for under our bed about 5 years ago. With the bed skirt, we’d always smell a faint mildew smell. I got this to dry that up and not only does it work great for that, the cat has found that she really likes to hang out under the bed with it. It’s warm, dark, and quiet under there. It’s especially good in the winter or when she gets a Lion cut. I didn’t buy it for her, but I’m glad it does it’s intended job and as a bonus keeps the cat happy. Will buy again if it ever needs replacing. ... show more

  • Good alternative to dehumidifiers
We use this in our bathroom to speed the drying of clothing that we hang to dry after using our little Haier washing machine. This does a pretty good job of removing the moisture from the air. As other reviewers have stated, it also increases the overall temp of the room as well. It doesn't remove as much air moisture as a normal dehumidifier does/would, but then again, this thing is a whole lot easier to store when not in use than a floor standing dehumidifier - an important consideration for those who live in smaller homes and have limited storage space! When not in use, we just put this on a shelf in our linen closet. And it also has helped reduce the mold that likes to creep into our tub/shower. Our bathroom is not as well ventilated as it could be...we're upping the vent fan from 70 CFM to 100 CFM in hopes that there won't be ANY mold. But I plan to put this little thing to work in winter to help with that as well. If you're looking for this type of "appliance", it's a good item for a fair price that does just what it is advertised to do. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is that it seems that for the size (about the size of a medium pizza, as another reviewer put it), it should do a better job and remove more moisture, or at least remove the amount more quickly. But this is a very minor nit...don't let it stop you buying this if you're in need of it. UPDATE 12.23.11 We decided to put this in our boat over the winter, to try to keep mold down (we've never experienced MUCH mold, but what we have gotten has been a pain to clean up/clear out each spring). With our mooring cover on our boat, we haven't gone all the way into our boat to do a thorough check, but lifting up the end corner of the mooring cover and cockpit cover, and doing a look-see, we can feel the heat being generated by this little device. Seems to be working well....spring 2012 will tell us the real results. But, having read reviews by others who have used this device to combat mold and humidity (esp. down in Florida), we're confident that this will work well. So if you also have a boat, or any other situation where you're trying to fight mold/mildew, consider this appliance. It's simple, cheap, small, and so far has worked well for every use we've put it to. ... show more

  • Wonderful product!
I love the fact that it's quiet and it doesn't generate any extra chores for me to do like emptying a bucket 2 a day (I'm in Florida) my dehumidifier heated the room an additional 9* F. It doesn't heat the room. It doesn't make my electric bill $25 a month more. It is an all around fantastic item. I hang clothes up to dry in the house to extend my clothing budget ( the clothes dryer shortens the life of items that have elastic ) usually it takes items 2 to 3 days to dry now I can put the clothes away the next day. It has made my daily life better in so many ways. Thank you for making such a fine quality product. ... show more

  • It works
Ordered this for our travel trailer as a suggestion from my BIL (who has had many rv's). It arrived packaged in a box, opened it up and plugged it in. Sat on the floor and the only way I know it's working (so incredibly quiet) is I put my hand down close to the holes and feel warmth.
