  • Well worth the money
Style: SpyderX Pro
Without spending thousands on a photo specific monitor I went with one that had good photos processing ratings. However, because monitors are backlight they will always show bright images that the eye will love. Those same images will not always print how they look on the monitor. Which is what I was having troubles with. After page after page of frustrating color, tone, saturation, exposure, and a variety of other adjustments I saw an advertisement for this little gadget pop up. I did not instantly bite, but after seeing an older one by the same manufacturer being used by a YouTube author who was talking about my monitor and printer wows I decided to give it a shot. Wow! It made all the difference! As the guy on YouTube had said my monitor was too bright. And this little guy helped dial in the color ranges. NOT ONLY THIS, but when it came to printing, the color profile this product produced and saved to my computer is what I choose when I print my photos. NOW WHAT I SEE IS WHAT I PRINT!!!!! AMAZING. SO WORTH THE PRICE. It would have saved me $100 in tested photo prints if I knew about it earlier. ... show more

  • Excellent tool for a colorist
Style: SpyderX Pro
Pros: 1. Walks you through everything. 2. Saves the color profiles at the OS level (Windows 11). 3. Provides warnings if the ambient light is too bright. Cons: 1. Requires a license to use, whose code is in the box. Doesn't make much sense - you can't use the software without the device.

  • It's very useful but handholding is tiring
Style: SpyderX Pro
I always want one machine from Datacolor, and I finally see the price went down and got this one. It is amazing so far to align color of my different monitors. However, after I aligned some of my screens, I found that it's tired that I need to hold it until the test finished... Overall, very good and useful, but a bit drawback though. ... show more

  • Didn't cost much but actually works
Style: SpyderX Pro
I am using it on a Lenovo Thinkpad Z710 from circa 2014. Photo prints were way off from what I was seeing on screen. The SpyderX Pro was easy to use, did the job in less than 5 minutes and afterwards, my screen versions looked the same as they did on my iPad and prints. Things were a little blurred after the first use but a small change in gamma corrected this. Unfortunately my screen migrates out of calibration relatively quickly so I'm having plenty of use for this device. ... show more

  • Well worth the money ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป
Style: SpyderX Elite
I recently picked up two LG 32UL950-W monitors and was a bit underwhelmed with the out of box picture compared to the other LG 4K monitors I have owned. I did a lot of research and tried calibrating manually, but after quite a bit of effort, it still wasnโ€™t right. This colorimeter was delivered next day, and within 20 minutes of unboxing I had both displays calibrated and looking amazing, giving me the performance I had expected. The option at the end of calibration to show some reference images with calibration on/off to see the difference is nice as well. Overall, if youโ€™re spending the money on high end displays, make sure to spend a little extra on this colorimeter to get every bit of performance out of them. It was a night and day difference once calibrated, and both displays match perfectly. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Love it
Style: SpyderX Pro
It fixed what I could not. My TV was over saturating the reds and had a bit of a color cast to it. Now it's completely balanced. I wish the cord was longer tho. Luckily I had a USB hub with a cable that I was able to use as an extension

  • A good colorimeter plagued by incredibly bad software..
Style: SpyderX Elite
I would like to preface my review with the physical device (SpyderX) that is shipped is a fine colorimeter that has the capabilities to meet my needs. However, the software for this device is so poor in both color space support and calibration accuracy that it made the product unusable for myself. I will be promptly returning the product. I mainly work in production video. recently more and more projects have required work in the rec 2020 or it HDR color space. To work in these color spaces you have to have windows in HDR mode. While in HDR mode everything on my display is a little washed out except for HDR content. Using the SpyderX colorimeter I was able to narrow down that windows was clamping my SDR color space too far inside of the broader HDR color space. With the SpyderX I was able to measure that the SDR color space whereas only covering 90% of SDR while the display that I am using is capable of 98% of DCI-P3, a significantly more broad color space. So the problem that I ran into is that the data color app only runs in the SDR color space. Therefore there is no way to actually calibrate the monitor because the calibration method only calibrates the 30% of the color space that is available to SDR apps right now. The calorimeter will not use the full color space. I think this could be fixed in a software update but the software seems incomplete at best especially for wide color gamut work. with this review I included two images. One of them is the calibration that I did using the windows HDR calibration tool and the other is the calibration that was done by the data color software. the data color software did a horrific job, ruining all semblance of color. The white point is a strong green yellow and the rest of the calibration is just as random and skewed. Depending on the Gray level it might be purple it might be yellow. It is just horrific. And this is really a shame because I think the colorimeter is actually really good! But the software is so unusable and inaccurate that it ruins the overall product. ... show more
