Description

Are you looking for an easy, inexpensive way to bring your 05-09 Mustang door panels back from the dead? DashSkin's molded plastic door panel inserts are a fast and economical way to remedy the most common interior failure of this vehicle. Simply remove the existing vinyl door panel material, clean the area with industrial degreaser, apply the included adhesive to the back of the inserts, and install into your door panels! The adhesive is temperature-stable and will not fail like the factory upholstery glue that holds the original material on, this kit fixes your door panels once and for all. The end result looks OEM and is a tremendous visual improvement over the original vinyl look. If you're looking to customize your interior easily and add some additional flare, the panels can also be painted using flexible coating dye for vinyl and plastics; choose a color that contrasts with your door panels and make them stand out! Best of all, our door panel inserts are MADE IN THE USA like the rest of our catalog, and are backed by a LIFETIME WARRANTY.

  • Great fit.
Color: Black
This was an easy install. Great fit. I didn’t have to trim it to fit. I used 3M automotive body side molding tape instead of the supplied silicone. I previously purchased another set from a competitor last year for about half the price of these. They didn’t fit well and needed to be trimmed. You get what you pay for. So thankful I purchased these. ... show more

  • GREAT alternative to original assembly design
Color: Black
Great alternative as you don’t have to remove the door panel to install. Tip for installing and getting a good adhesion is to roll up towels and stuff them between the panel and the seats. Position the seat recline so that it lines up with the panel to stuff a rolled up towel to keep a decent seal of the panel to the inner door panel. I utilized five towels…two against the seat back side, two on the lower seat side and one inside the door hand grab. There are likely better ways to get a good seal adhesion of the panel but I found this to be a quick and decent solution. Don’t expect a perfect fit and “snap in” of the panel to the inner door panel as there are likely tolerance differences in manufacturing of the original door trim install itself. That said, this is a GREAT solution to the poor original door trim design. I am grateful that the company took the initiative to design and mold this part. Don’t hesitate to purchase. Also, ensure that you clean the inner door panel to get off as much original glue residue from the failed original design. Prep up front will save a lot of frustration and give the best adhesion. ... show more

  • Exceeded my very low expectations on a 2005 Mustang GT
Color: Black
My first impression when the product arrived was not a good one. The packing was adequate but the part itself left a lot to be desired. The two plastic insert pieces are flat plastic lacking any texture. It is common practice in automotive plastic pieces to add at least a slight bit of texture to hide imperfections in the plastic mold and to make the inevitable scratches less noticeable. These plastic pieces have none of that. The instructions were clear (if incorrect). It is obvious they are trying to address concerns expressed in reviews. They state the plastic insert should "snap in" upon test fitting and you must make sure you are comfortable with the fit prior to applying the silicone adhesive. While there is definitely a "snapping in" type affect when you push hard down on the plastic insert the insert promptly pops right back out. This is due to the insert panels not being properly formed. The fit is so tight the smaller piece of the insert refuses to stay "snapped" down. The instructions state "if properly installed there will be no need for weight to keep the piece in place"....WRONG! And sadly without the proper deep clamps it is almost impossible to keep the lower small strip in place for the glue to do its job. They also state in the instructions "if it is your first time you may use too much adhesive" which I believe it to address the negative comments those have mentioned about "wishing there were more". Due to the inaccurate size of the part and the tension it creates I can tell you more adhesive is unlikely to solve the problem. So it looks like I am going to have to find some flat headed torque screws (black in my case) to put in a pattern around the outer edge of this plastic piece to ensure the part stays in place. Currently I am trying to weigh down the small strip around the lower part of the door enough to get the glue to keep it somewhat in place. A little about me: I have worked in the automotive industry for 31 years. While I do not have upholstery experience (if I had I certainly would have not used a part like this) I have been working with interior panels on cars since I started. As I stated in the title I didn't have high expectations for this product, but the lack of quality and high price for what you get is surprising to even me. You would be better off putting the money you would spend on this product toward what a professional upholstery shop would charge you to do it correctly. If you do decide to proceed with these parts I would highly recommend you remove your door panel and figure out exactly how you are going to clamp off lower strip. If you can manage to keep that tight to the panel you MIGHT be able to make these work. ... show more

  • Fit is good but not enough adhesive given with the kit
Color: Black
Fit is very good but considering the price another tube of adhesive should be given .. I used two rolls of paper towels on each side to keep pressure on the inserts for the adhesive to set overnight ... not perfect but it looks better than the vinyl inserts

  • Fit great just wish it came with more silicone RTV
Color: Black
The door skins fit perfectly into the door, they just snap in place with no issue at all, my only small complaint is that I had to use every drop of silicone RTV that they provide, I wish they gave a bit more but it worked out in the end

  • 2005-09 Mustang door panel inserts.
Color: Black
This was definitely the right choice to replace the sagging, de-laminating leather that came stock. I removed the door panels and placed them on saw horses while I peeled the leather out. With a little cleaning I then used the RTV sealant that was enclosed to mount the rigid plastic inserts. I placed some weights on this to insure good contact and let the sealant cure overnight. They came out great. The textured inserts look professional! I don’t believe I would want to leave the panels on the door while I replace the inserts since it would be difficult to keep pressure on the inserts while the sealant cures (24 hours is what I allowed) ... show more

Color: Black
Removed panels from doors, removed vinyl cover and felt underneath, clean along edges with sandpaper and get all felt out of crevices, wipe surfaces with alcohol and use RTV supplied silicone. Snap it in place starting with thin area and use 3 10# weights to hold firm along bottom edge and 1 10# at large area. Key: Test fit before silicone Mine fit perfectly with no gaps or issues ... show more
