Instead of having Tesla wanting to replace the whole door handle with a new generation handle, I was able to say several hundred by doing the work myself. My particular issue was the door handle presenting, but not opening when pulling on the handle as the old sensor started to fail. Watched a YouTube video to see how to take apart of the inside of the door to access the door handle. It does take quite amount of time the first time. But once you learn it, it would be quicker if you had to do it again. Take your time and watch the YouTube videos a few times to get a good understanding. While taking apart the door, doesn’t hurt to take pictures of where the bolts and wires went into, or even labeling the wires with tape to make it a little easier. It was worth the time and effort, and the $30 dollars spent to save the several hundred to have it done elsewhere. ... show more

    • Saved $Hundreds Fixing Model S Door Handle Myself
Used the wired switches to replace my 2014 Tesla Model S door handle switch that had a broken wire. Fit perfectly and works like a charm. The included plastic door panel snaps are handy if you break one. Will defiantly purchase again if my other door handle stopes working.

I ordered this replacement wiring for my 2015 Model S left rear door. It is a relatively easy fix and can save a considerable amount of $ vs having Tesla fix it, ($500). So far so good.

Both metal pieces are broken already 3 months after install. Micro switches on one harness did not work and had to use the old harness. New harness that did work already cracking. Stay away.

    • Worked perfectly to repair my door
My 2014 Model S driver door randomly stopped popping out one day. Rather than forking over $200+ to Tesla to fix it, I decided to DIY it myself. This kit replaced the broken paddle and provided an upgrade to the wires over the original handle. Worked flawlessly for 8 months until I sold the car.

For these the other day and worked wonders. Once you do the first door the other one comes easier. Tesla wanted to charge almost $400 to replace. This did the job for both of my front doors. Doors did not want to open front he outside anymore. Thanks a lot!! If my back doors mess up I know where to buy them from. Thank again!!! A++++ ... show more

My handle would open to present location but was unable to open door from outside. Would make a noise as it came out, and seem to over extend. Removed door handle and found a broken wire on limit switch. Only used limit switch harness from kit, and this fixed my problem.

    • Cheap and great repair if you’re not afraid of some diy
Fixed the problem with the door opening every time the car was put in park and the handles presented It self. It took me a while to fix it, but that was mostly because the previous owner of the car did a hack job of fixing the door before.
