Description

RELIABLY RUGGED. Built in the USA with a dedication to quality that goes back to 1932, Bull Run work boots are a utilitarian round-toe work boot with a timeless design that stays in style when you punch out. The full-grain leather upper is the perfect blend of strong and soft, testing for strength and oiled for added water-resistance. Combine that with the sturdy Danner Wedge outsole and removable three-density OrthoLite footbed, and you get all-day comfort that lasts. Handcrafted with our legendary stitchdown construction, it provides added stability underfoot, and the soles and heels are manufactured with non-conductive shock-resistant materials to provide electrical hazard protection on the job. At Danner, they are craftsmen. They pay attention to details. They forgo quantity for quality, with the knowledge that the boots they craft are no better than the hands that create them.

  • Great Boot
Size: 11.5 Color: Brown
So I recently damaged the upper on my Red Wing boot, which was disappointing since it was a good work boot. Rarely has a work boot or even a shoe lasted me so long. So I decided to pick up this Danner Boot. It looked good online and had some good reviews so I figured, if the shoe fit then I'de give it a try. So far (1 month in) I've been liking it as a work boot. I'm not crazy about the laces or the white sole, but I end up wearing shoes so long that soles get replaced by my shoe cobbler, and laces get replaced once they tear. Anyways, I have made a list of things that I do and don't like about this boot. Things I like about this boot - Fitment. The boot fits really well, I'm an 11 1/2 and european 45 and this boot fits well even though Danner reports this boot to be a 46. My foot doesn't slide at all and I can work all day without blisters or hot feet or sliding around. The toe box is little larger than average, but I find it fine. - Color. I like the leather and the logo is subtle. One thing I hate is shoes that boast their logo all over the shoes. This one is a good looking work boot. - Sole. I like the non-marking sole and that it can be replaced easily. - Height. I like that I moved from a below ankle work boot to above ankle work-boot. I think I would prefer to go to a higher boot: see the list below why. Weight. This boot weighs a decent amount, but I don't get tired thought the day. The first day was not a chore to move the weight around. Things I don't like about this boot. - Break In Period. Most boots require a break in period of a couple days, to a month. I'm currently one month in and my feet still hurt at the end of the day from the shoe not giving in. This boot takes a long time to break in. I've been walking to lunch in these boots to try to break them in faster. Lexol has been smothered on them, but my friend told me he had to put Lexol on every three days to help it break in faster. I'm not a fan of the length of break in, but once they are broken in, I'm sure I'll love them. The harder the break in period, the longer the shoe should last. My friend also told me that If I had purchased the 8-inch or taller boot, then it wouldn't be digging into my calf so bad. So I probably should have gone with the 8 inch or taller. - Tongue. Something is weird about the tongue of the shoe. The left tongue on my Danner won't stay up, it shifts to the left. The right tongue is the same way, it moves to the right. And my last pair of shoes didn't have this problem at all. It might be that the shoe isn't broken in yet, or that I got a bad batch, I'm not exactly too sure, but the problem is so minor that I won't knock any stars. We'll see in a couple more months. So that's my opinion of this boot. Hope you found it helpful. ... show more

  • Wow
Size: 11 Color: Brown
Edit* 1 week later boots are broken in nicely. First 2 days wore at home, which broke in the tounge and lace leather area. Then next 4 day were worn full 8 hr days at work, yes some pains biggest area that needed break in was flex in the step and the heel. At the end of day 6 they were noticeably better. Here it is day 7 and perfectly comfortable work boots. This upper is going to last forever! The sole will not make it a year but I already planned on resoling to a lug when this wedge gives out. Love these boots! Ok first thing, I just got them today 6-16-16. Tried them on and perfect fit, laced them up and as stiff as they are zero heel slip. Lets start with the leather.. Holly @#!! $% is this some heavy duty skin! Thick will last forever if taken care of. I have knife sheaths thinner than these boots. All that being said, this leather is crazy stiff. You can crank the laces and your not moving the leather. I just finished the first coat of obenaufs oil, once that has seeped in it will get a second coat. It really does help soften the leather. Comfort, even with how stiff the boots are they are very comfy. This is my first wedge sole, and the christy knocks it out of the park. Extra cushion with every step. Yes they are vibram, and yes they will wear down quickly but when they do ill resole to a lug sole. The basic footbed is more than enough cofot aswell. Sizing, I wear an 11D in almost every boot except my belleville 590's. I ordered 11D and feels as though danner made them for my feet. Not sure where people get the loose heel cup from, mine are perfect form fitting. Not a 5 star boot yet, will need to see how they are in 12 months ... show more

  • A good boot to be put to hard use
Size: 11 Color: Brown
I had been watching the price on these to fall and they did!!! Exceptionally good boots. I work on a large farm, and boots tend to have a very short life with me. The soles are really good at cushioning the strain from standing on a shop floor all day. The wedge type sole cleans up easily after walking in muddy fields all day. Just find a stick or a piece of metal and scrape off the mud, good to go. The boots are leather, thin enough to not get swamp foot, but thick enough to be durable and take some pretty good abuse. Being leather, they will stretch a little with use. This stretch IMHO is a good thing, because you are able to use a well-cushioned boot sock once the leather has loosened up a bit. The soft sole does have a disadvantage when walking out in the desert where the mesquites are. The boots tend to pick up mesquite thorns and stickers but once again are easily cleaned. I walked through a field of cotton stubble and the sharp punji like sticks did take a few gouges out of the soles, but even then, the material closed up easily. The footbeds are a little tough at first, but once they are worn in, they feel really good ( I wouldn't expect something this sturdy to be comfortable at break in, neither were they so tough that they hurt my feet). They laces are good and strong, and they eyelets and top hooks have been no issue and seem to be fastened to the leather really well... The great bonus to these boots is that they are made to be rebuilt. You can send them back to Danner, or you could take them to your local repair shop and have the soles replaced with the same type of Vibram sole or another of your choice..... For good foot support and versatility of use, I think that they are the way to go. If they only will be worn occasionally as a fashion shoe the user might find it takes quite a bit more time to get accustomed to them, as the break in period will be extended. I would recommend them to any person looking for a boot with a good price that has a long use life!! ... show more
