I bought this knife for my room mate for his birthday because he said that he wanted a cleaver when I asked what he wanted. After spending some time looking for one on Amazon, I found this 1 and honestly, I just thought it looked the coolest out of all the others that I saw listed. The price was a little high, but I thought it looked cool enough to justify it and I'd say it did. The knife comes with a hard, plastic sheath to protect the blade if you had to carry it somewhere or if you had small children that like to mess with everything. It also comes with a hand carved, wooden stand for if you don't have children to worry about, you can just keep it on its stand on the counter. Now for the knife itself, this thing is robust. Full tang, so he won't have to worry about the handle snapping when he's cutting meats and other things, and the weight will definitely help with making it easier to cut tough cuts of meat and bone. The edge isn't super sharp, definitely not razor sharp, but it's still plenty sharp enough to do the job that's asked of it. And since the blade is made of stainless steel, it's pretty easy to clean. All in all, I think it's a very nice knife and makes for a very good gift. ... show more

Let me just start this review by saying that I’m a lifelong knife nut turned chef. I collect high end folders and have an array of name brand kitchen knives. I professionally sharpen knives for friends and am known to put 15,000 grit polishes on my blades. I think they’re functional works of art.. and this Dalstrong Obliterator cleaver may be one of my favorite knives I’ve ever owned. The 7cr17mov steel is found in many budget valued bushcraft knives. It’s a steel that can take a beating and doesn’t chip easily, but also won’t break the bank. I’m blown away that they could sell this hunk of steel at this price. The fit and finish on the blade is absolutely beautiful. I’m astonished that a 3lb, 9” long, 1/4” thick blade can be so balanced. That being said, if you lack shoulder strength.. beware.. this knife is heavy. It looks like something out of Final Fantasy or Dark Souls. Check my pics. I have medium-large hands and this thing is an absolute chunk. First thing I did with this beast was chop up a few whole chickens for some Korean fried chicken. Just.. wow. Goes through bone like butter. I can’t wait to use this thing to break down elk or venison. I was never given a product for review; I’m just a fan of impressive cutlery and I absolutely love this cleaver. The stand it comes with is rustic, yet refined and beautiful. And the sheath it comes with is high quality with padding on the inside to protect from scratches and absorb shock in travel. Now that I have this, I could never go back to an ordinary cleaver. Next to a 2 liter Pepsi bottle. It is thick and huge. Sharp, Very sharp. Weighs about 3 lbs. If you need a Strong and Sturdy cleaver, A real beast this is the one.

I process my own meats - home grown, wild caught & wholesale purchased. For the larger cuts & joints I wanted a heavy duty cleaver. It needed to be thick, and have a good flat ridge to hit with mallet. Doesn't get better than this one. Note : It is heavy. It wouldn't be as useful for small meats in kichen...but it's a beautiful & highly functional cleaver for butchering !! ... show more

So Ive been looking for a couple new kitchen knives for a while and been browsing everything from cheap China stuff to mediocre China stuff to even American made Jesse James Cutlery stuff which I'm really in love with but will have to wait till Santa Claus brings me one of those sweet pieces of art. So, I came across this bad boy while browsing Amazon one night and did the whole read the review thing (specifically the bad reviews) (I like to see what the really angry customers are pissed about). After using a little common sense, it seemed like a bad unit goes out every so often but over all everyone basically loves this thing. So I figure what the heck it's like $99 bucks and worst case scenario Halloween is in a couple weeks I can use it for a good prop. But ill tell you what, Amazon truck pulled up and I was out there before the lady put a foot out the door. I was a lil excited to see what all the hype was about. So this thing was very well packed to start with, like almost a little over board But I got it out and shoot dang, it's heavy!! Blade feels super sharp, and the girth of this thing is like they had to use like half the metal it took to forge the Titanic to make this thing. I think it weighs in at around 3lbs! Needless to say I'm pretty blown away with it considering the price. Only thing I'm worried about is the quality of the steel, but time will tell with that. I was looking for a cleaver for my food preparation needs. This knife made by Dalstrong is perfect. I purchased the DALSTRONG Obliterator Meat Cleaver - 9“ cleaver. The knife busts right through a chicken breast bone when preparing a whole chicken. It is also great for chopping large chunks of meat cooked or raw. A definite must have tool to have in your kitchen. The minute you take the knife out of the packaging you notice the quality. The knife’s blade just shines and looks clean.     • Awesome but the sheath could be better.
The quality of the blade and handle are amazing. Definitely would recommend for anyone who is looking for a cleaver of this size. I however was not impressed with the plastic sheath. It is the only reason I could not give it 5 points. Minimal. It split apart and luckily my fingers were not close when it did or I would have had some serious cuts because this baby is sharp! I love how heavy and thick it is. Love the sturdy build! ... show more
