UPDATE: Seller advised me the oil on the shade is part of the manufacturing process, mineral oil can be wiped off with a soft cloth. I will say the oil had a much stronger smell than 'mineral oil', and there was a lot of oil, like it was dripping/running across the inside after I pulled it out of the plastic. It would have been great to have a warning note to unpack the frame on something that wouldn't be damaged from the oil, as well as to know the oil is normal. I give it 4 stars because of the gold/bronze paint splotches and the oil issue. (keep reading) I decided to take a chance and order the Aldridge. I've wanted a Tiffany for years and decided to pull the trigger and treat myself to this version. Everything arrived intact. The base has faux gold/bronze accenting and there are a couple drips (large splotches) that are out of character with the gold/bronze rubbed accent, you can see here in the picture, which makes them stand out exceptionally. I don't think it's worth packing back up and returning for an exchange. I'll sit on it a few days. The glow is wonderful, I'd order again if I were to do it again. ***One strange note: the shade had oil all over the inside, whatever the oil was from it leaked into the styrofoam packing material. It had a yellowish oil color and garage oil kind of smell to it. I wiped it down carefully with a paper towel and plan to contact the seller to ask why it was covered in oil. It smelled nasty pulling it out of the box (like an oily garage) and I'm hoping the smell goes away. ... show more

I was worried based upon some of the other reviews; however, this lamp is amazing. Very well built. Heavy. Solid. The wires mentioned in one review are definitely present; however, they are necessary for structural integrity of the lamp shade. You really cannot see them unless you know they are there and go looking for them. The colors are vibrant and bring the necessary pop and conversation piece I was seeking. ... show more

    • Shoddy original packaging.
I had to return the first shipment due to a chipped lamp base. The inner original packing box was damaged. The outer Amazon box was fine. When the replacement lamp arrived the inner original shipping box was damaged in the same location. Fortunately the lamp was OK. One assembled we love the lamp.

I wanted this lamp for a long time, and finally ordered it when the price changed. SO disappointed to see the rough work on this lamp. I have several stained glass pieces and I worked with stained glass myself; this is not the meticulous work I expected in a Dale Tiffany piece. Also, there is ugly metalwork around the top of the shade, that can't be seen in the photos online, and worse, it's painted gold. That gold paint is also used to highlight the base in an effort to make it look antique, I suppose, but it just looks cheap. Lastly, the base itself is not as shown in the photos; the turned top is different than pictured. All the way around, sadly disappointed. ... show more

Don't know why they did not pull the electrical cord all the way down. Part of it was sticking out of the top of the light. I figured it out, but was afraid I might damage the electrical cord.
