  • CyberLink PowerDVD 23 Ultra | Award-Winning Blu-ray, DVD, & Media Player Software
It is a dream come true! With 2 USB drives (one blu-ray) the software offers a mouse based user interface and keyboard support (cursor keys and “enter”). In pause mode it allows the screen saver to take effect. I tried both DVDs and BDs, excellent sound and image. It remembers where you left off. It even played a DVD for region 2 (USA is in region 1), but it did put up a warning saying that it could not do it more than 4 times ... show more

  • Blu-ray discs will play on new Blu-Ray player
Hello, I purchased this software believing that I would be able to play blu-ray discs on my laptop, my mistake. But I was not aware that I needed to buy a separate player for blu-ray. Now my Blu Ray discs play without issue. Just an FYI, if you buy this product, you have to have an external drive that is able to play Blu-Ray discs. The DVD drives on regular laptops will not work. ... show more

  • One of the best options for a niche need
If you need an actual software Blu-ray player, you're in a pretty niche group: most have moved on to streaming and there are a variety of tools available to rip or otherwise capture video from a Blu-ray without using an actual player like this. Heck, the likelihood that you even have a BD drive in your computer is pretty slim at this point. Still, sometimes you want to be able to actually launch the Blu-ray, navigate the menus, maybe figure out what episode is what title in a Blu-ray, including in stuff with weird playback/copy restrictions. To my knowledge, there really isn't any other fool-proof solution to that problem other than a true BD playback application like this one. It does the trick, and pretty darned well. It supports a huge range of video playback and output options, which is nice in a product like this. The register "nag screen" and the need to register to receive software updates is a little irritating, but otherwise it's a fine product at a reasonable price relative to the competition. ... show more

  • Awesome Software
CyberLink has been around for a long time and there are certain things that I appreciate about it. The only thing that I don't care for (but it is the industry standard now) is that I don't get a physical disc for my backup library. The software itself lives up to my every expectation. This is a little more tech centric than a point and click environment but, to that end, it offers better tools than similar, simpler programs. On the other side, it is more user friendly than some of the more advanced software for editing/converting videos. Overall, I always have recommended Cyberlink because I believe it offers really great balance between very complex programs and very simplistic programs that makes it easy to use but also offers/maintains quality options. ... show more

  • Not for Windows 7 Operating system
I would love it if this software worked properly. I was very much looking forward to using it. However, It is apparently not designed for use with Window 7 operating system. I was told that it was. It seems to install ok but doesn't operate properly when you try to start it up. And it can't be registered. It keeps complaining that it can't connect to the internet to register. It also doesn't close completely, and leaves some kernel still open, which prevents it from starting again, and also interferes with other software. You have to restart your computer each time. I uninstalled it. Clearly, the information I had was incorrect. ... show more

  • Won't rip protected DVDs, even if they're yours. Works great for non protected.
I got this because I wanted to rip my DVD collection to mp4 so I could watch them in other rooms and in an order I choose. This ripped unprotected DVDs great. Took about 45 minutes, give or take, to rip an hour and a half movie. It's not the easiest to figure out, but if you've done it before it doesn't take long to get a bead on it. Playback of the mp4s was great and it was so nice to not have a watermark. It would be nice if there was some way to rip protected. I own these. I should be able to put them in a mobile format. ... show more
