UPDATE.... I am sick! Long story short.... because this replacement part doesn't close properly and will pop out....I recommend sealing with a few dabs of crazy glue on at least two sides. I let a family friend use my car (something I NEVER do) to make a quick dash to HD...due to the fact they carry 200 keys, (?????) my slightly glue key was knocked open and this replacement part along with the transformer chip to operate my vehicle was lost. They couldn't find it. So I am out of $400 to replace my car key with transformer chip. Listen! I had trashed a major component to this key replacement. I am not sure why the sellers do not provide any information regarding the transport with the packaging. I had to learn about this after my car wouldn't start. As I was thankful to work from home remotely, I was bothered my recent car trouble was back to haunt me. Then I came back to the review page to learn I had tossed a needed part with the old key. Thankfully it wasn't trash day. I retrieve the old key and patiently broke away around the small slot to remove the transport. Someone else had mentioned that it was covered in glue....they were right. After a careful cleaning...it fit. My car started. The case don't close tightly....so a little glue may be applied. ... show more

  • must transfer transponder chip, kind of difficult
Color: 3 Buttons
Works great so far but car wouldn't start, so found out I had to remove the small transponder chip out of the old case into the slot provided in the new key case. I had to use pliers to remove the cut key out of my old fob also, which ruined the old one, but I wasn't going to use it anyway. Watch youtube videos on how to remove transponder. As far as case coming apart I snapped it together and then squeezed it together near the metal key (with pliers) as this is where it wouldn't quite snap together. Cover fob with a cloth and don't over squeeze as to not scratch the fob. I am happy with it so far UPDATE: Keeps coming apart, I'm going to put a new battery in it and super glue it ... show more

  • Inexpensive fix, no instructions included, watch a tutorial
Color: 4 Buttons
It is an inexpensive replacement to my oem key dongle. It would be nice if it came with instructions, although it isn’t too complicated. Another reviewer mentioned that you need to make sure to put the transponder chip from your old fob into the new one or the car won’t start. This is correct. It’s a bit of a process to get that out of the old fob because it is (at least mine was) glued into the slot for the chip. To get at it required that I destroy my old fob (it was already broken so it needed to happen anyway, but it’s a bit concerning when you have to do it. ) I recommend to look up a tutorial on YouTube to know what it is you are looking for. All in all, it’s a very inexpensive fix at $7 as long as you can get everything moved over with out breaking the expensive original pieces. I hope it will be durable and last me a while, but time will tell. ... show more

  • Not great

It’s does not snap closed completely. Had to put some tape on it, so it doesn’t fall apart when I start my car.

  • Takes effort!
Color: 3 Buttons
I’ve had this product for 9 months. I gave up when I first purchased it but now we really need to replace our Scion tC key that is in pieces. I have now been successful! Everything was simple except getting the chip/ transponder out of the old key. Finally we used a hammer and a flat screwdriver (shown in pic) to crack to casing. The chip fell out once the casing was cracked. Easy to assemble new key casing. So exciting to have a brand new functioning fob and key! Update: Key case doesn't stay closed. We keep a rubber band wrapped around it and that works. ... show more

  • Easy Assembly
Color: 3 Buttons
The parts from an OEM Scion remote fit perfectly. The old key snaps into the bracket very easily, just make sure you get it in snugly. Get it firmly into the fob and make sure the screw is tight to the point the key is firmly flat on the base. Everything else is pretty much obvious...EXCEPT you need to remove the security chip - which is NOT THE MODULE that handles the remote entry buttons. There is a separate chip in the fob that you need to carefully remove and place into the slot in this fob. Otherwise, it's an easy option if your cheap plastic Toyota (Scion) FOB breaks. ... show more

  • Buttons do not stay in
Color: 3 Buttons
My original 2012 RAV4 key case cracked in half & all I wanted was a replacement key case so I could then move my original ignition key, battery & the transponder to a working fob (case with buttons to lock & unlock doors). However, the buttons do not stay in at all, once pressed they fall out! I even had my engineer son try it who said they are not made to snap in securely. The original buttons “rocked” when pushed as they snapped in on 1 side so they didn’t fall out. So these are not made like the original. Don’t understand why this is so complicated as it should be quite simple to just make an empty plastic case with useable buttons. Very poor design with no quality control. Do not recommend. ... show more
