As my mother aged, she became increasingly susceptible to bruising, bandaged bleeding scraps and blood blisters on her arms caused by the most minor scraping of her skin, or tiniest thorn punctures from one of her many rose bushes. Now retired, the same condition has come upon me and appears to be progressively becoming worse as I age, as it it did with Mom. A recent urgent water heater replacement required the renovation of the dedicated closet housing the unit, resulting in both of my arms and hands covered by large bandages protecting big bleeding scrapes, and not bandaged dark blood blisters/bruises covering all areas of both arms. When I'd find blood on a glove or shirt, I wouldn't know what I'd done to cause the new scrape or cut. Long sleeve cotton shirts didn't provide enough protection, just soaked up blood, so I changed back into short-sleeve T's. Today was the first wearing of my new OriStout Kevlar Protective Sleeves while working with ladders and equipment on the house, and today is the first day doing this kind of work that I haven't pulled out the fishing box re-dedicated to first aid! No new bruises, blood blisters or cuts on either arm, and there were plenty of strikes, scraping, and banging of arms and elbows just moving myself, materials and tools up and down ladders. I'm astounded by how well these sleeves protected my arms. The morning was hot from the start and it became hotter, but I didn't notice that my arms were sweating until the sleeves were pulled off when taking a break. They are very comfortable, and stayed in place on my arms. The sleeves on my T-Shirt covered the velcro band at the top of the sleeve, that's how long they are, and I'm 6' tall. My experience today tells me these are a 10!! for me, and I'd encourage you to try out a pair if you suffer from the same ageing affliction that I do, and that Mom did. ... show more

    • Great for handling cats, but they aren't perfect.

4 stars because they make it easier to trim cats nails and are easy to slide on even over watches and easy to take off, but they do snag a bit after a few uses and really tight fitting for fat or muscular upper arms. If you have bigger upper arms, it's a very tight fit even if you don't use the Velcro so those who have bigger arms, it's not going to be comfortable. I gained about 50 lbs from medical issues and medications and a majority of the weight went to my arms and upper back so they're nice and flabby. Thanks for those genetics, Mom! Maybe I could handle for more than 5 - 10 minutes, but it may depend on the size of your arms, whether it's fat or muscle. However, if you're only using it to trim your cat's nails then these are perfect no matter the size of your upper arms because you really just need you lower arms protected. As for gardening or working in the yard, if my cats oddly razor sharp teeth can't penetrate (he tried and failed) and a knife allegedly won't cut you with them on (not attempting to test that out) then they'd probably prevent creatures that sting you. Don't take my word on that, I'm just assuming so if you attempt then keep your Epipen handy. They'd also be great for people on blood thinners or who have clotting issues if you're doing something that could cut you. All that being said, if they had some for your lower legs, like from ankle to knee, I'd totally buy them because my cat is an attacker and they would spare me from needing a blood transfusion every week because this cat thinks legs are predators. ... show more

These sleeves fit great. Wasn’t sure about the thumb hole style but very glad I picked this type. Stays in place and actually adds protection for the hands.
