Though they are not able to swing up and out of the way like CURT swivel jacks, A-frame jacks are made to retract completely to ensure enough clearance for safe travel. This CURT A-frame trailer jack features a support capacity of 3,000 lbs., a lift capacity of 2,000 lbs., a travel of 14-1/2" and a side-wind handle. It does not matter what kind of trailer you tow -- a boat trailer, utility trailer, livestock hauler or recreational vehicle trailer -- if you have a receiver- style trailer, you will want a jack that complements its function. Installed on an old 16' 1962 Winnebago. Had to increase the diameter if the hole the jack goes into. This was probably the hardest thing of the install, but if you have a newer trailer this should not be an issue. After I increased the diameter, everything else was simple to install. The new crank works great and much much smoother than the old one that was on there. Be sure to pick up a foot and a wheel for it if you don't already have those as they are not included. It also does not come with bolts for attaching to the trailer, so be sure to pick those up. Not a bad idea to get new ones as the old ones are probably rusted and old. ... show more

The Curt jack is a good value for the price and it's well made with a nice fit and finish. The load limit is 2,000 LBS so you have to be mindful of that. We bought/installed this jack to replace a similar damaged jack. Unfortunately the new Curt was damaged yet again in a road dip induced tongue dragging incident. We have problems with insufficient tongue clearance in road surface dips and rises on our lower clearance equipment haulers, with several different manufacturer's tongue/cupler jacks despite having the jacks retracted to their maximum full-up position. We basically needed as design that allowed full retraction into or even with the trailer's coupler frame/housing. This would require either a horizontal rotatable offset jack (available elsewhere on Amazon) - that is a less-desirable design due to load/frame offset, or a retractable pin/collar jack. We discovered the answer to our problem in the "The Ultimate Trailer Jack" product - a fully retractable pin/collar jack that costs about 2x a conventional jack but is available on Amazon from 2nd / 3rd party vendors which also has a 2,000 LBS rating. Search Amazon for the product "The Ultimate Trailer Jack' The Ultimate Jack has a sliding pin collar that allows full retraction for towing and with modification removal form the trailer coupler collar. As with ANY trailer jack, please ensure that the trailer wheels are well chocked for to immobilize the trailer. No trailer jack even the best can withstand sideways or fore/aft movement which bend and collapse the jack - even the Curt 28204. These jacks are designed ONLY for vertical loads not side-to-side or fore/aft movement/loads/pressure. We encourage Amazon.com to directly carry and ship The Ultimate Jack, trailer jack. We believe it would be a strong seller once more Amazon customers learn of its design features and capabilities. ... show more

My old tongue jack on my camper was old and needed to be replaced. After researching I found this item and I'm very pleased with the purchase. Its very solid and feels very sturdy. It was very easy to install and fit perfectly. Just make sure you measure the girth width of the old tongue jack to make sure it fits thru the hole of a tongue bracket if you have one in front like i do and also measure the height from the bolted connection to ground. The crank handle rotation in an up and down circle is much better for me than the ones that are top mounted and turn in a circle from left to right. Those always interfere with the bikes I have on the back of the car but this crank rotation gives great clearance. ... show more
