  • Danger of water damage with normal usage.
Size: 24-36 Inch (Pack of 1) Color: Black - Dynamic Color Control
For the first year I had this light, I loved it. Then it stopped working. It turns out that over time, moisture builds up inside of the light and eventually causes failure. This moisture is from very minimal "splashing", due to air bubbles coming out of my water. This lamp is described as "water resistant"...I completely disagree. I have had many other lights, none of which have had this problem. So, I'm sad to say that if you want a light which can last you should probably look elsewhere. ... show more

  • Plan on it not lasting much longer than a year
Size: 48-60 Inch (Pack of 1) Color: Black - Dynamic Color Control
I have had three of these, one lasted about eight months. Current did replace it as it was less than a year old, however the new one they gave me lasted just over a year. The third one still works although it puts out about half as much light as it did when new, not enough to grow any plants, just light the tank. I like them when they work, they look nice and have a nice low profile. I just think they need to work on quality control. I had a ramp timer from them as well that didn’t make it a year either. I don’t really think it’s a one star product, more like two and a half but it certainly isn’t a four star product either, so the one star is just to help knock it down a notch. ... show more

  • Awesome light
Size: 48-60 Inch (Pack of 1) Color: Black - Dynamic Color Control
You just can't go wrong with this light, I love it. I can't believe I took so long to acquire one. It has a remote control so you can change the light settings from the comfort of your couch. This light DOES work with Ramp timer, lot's of websites say it doesn't but it works perfectly with it. The tank is so bright and I have no dark spots on it anymore. I guide size for who wants to buy is: The adjustment of it is on the legs so if your tank measures 48", you have to buy the 48" (light size) to 60" (leg size extended) not the 36" to 48" otherwise the light will be 12" smaller. ... show more

  • EDIT**two months before the remote broke
Size: 24-36 Inch (Pack of 1) Color: Black - Dynamic Color Control
I found a new remote--it broke 3 weeks later. I'm on number 4. It sucks because this light is way brighter than people say. AS an FYI lumens measures light intensity, not watts. No idea why watts was ever put on a light bulb to confuse people. Take a high school or grade school physics class. That's why they have to put stupid ppl stuff on newer light bulbs telling you whether a 40watt incandescent is as bright as a 2watt LED(or whatever it matches). Watts is the energy unit for the rate at which energy is consumed. 100watt lightbulb uses 100watts of power every second. LEDs use less energy but aren't any less bright. If we simply put lumens on the earlier lightbulbs, no one would be confused. Oh and K is the measure of light temperature from cold to warm, nothing to do with intensity. That being said, this light that I received is much brighter than anything anyone here states. Did you send me the wrong one? I cannot find the paperwork, but at it's brightest I cannot look at it and the fish are scared. At about halfway bright, it grows algae on everything in the tank. So yeah plants grow. I'd really like to know why some people state it's only 2000lumens. I see some people calculating things on some weird scale, but again, watts should never be used, you can't compare watts when dealing between fluorescent, incandescent and LED. 2-3 months in and the remote quit working. I attempted contacting the company and they never wrote back. It still turned on and off at least. Now, 18 months out, I have no remote and since the idiot that designed it, made it without ANY REAL switch, I have a 90$ piece of garbage. I no longer have the packaging, so I cannot write them again. How do I reach you. Plus I'll assume I have to buy a new remote every two months as that's the lifespan per other reviews. Nice that you put a kill switch on the newer models. So, I bought the Aqueon starter tank package, which comes with a cheap light with 12 LEDs on it. I wanted to have some plants with my fish. I bought the AQUEON plastic hood with LED light tubes for $52 plus another $20 for an extra tube. It was very dim--even worse than the 12 lights and it had 24. After reading a ton of aquarium sites, I found two lights that looked good without being super expensive. I chose Current. Pros It's sleek and unobtrusive. I went with the 24-36 inch light so I'd get 48 LEDs. Set up is a breeze. I bought a glass top for my aqarium, this sets right over it--added protection against water damage. Safer for the fish too. The colors! So pretty. it's like watching a light show. Honest. It has many cool effects. A couple of nite settings. Several clouds--the lights change and it seems like clouds passing over. Lightning--it annoys the fish, do you want to live under a strobe? Sunrise, partly sunny etc. You can control it by remote, there's a sensor. You can also adjust individual colors. Cons Only turns on by remote. No timer. you could attach one to the outlet though, it will turn on to your last preset. No directions as to what the pics on the remote mean. It is full spectrum, but there's no setting that shows all rgb that I can find. The clouds change the colors constantly, I can either do white/blue, white/pink, white/red, white/green. I cannot see RGB at once yet. Still, I set it fairly bright and add a color--definitely more light than I had before and my plants are already growing well. It's a good value, I don't want to blind my fish and the plants seem happy too. ... show more

  • Great product, remote sucks
Size: 48-60 Inch (Pack of 1) Color: Black - Dynamic Color Control
So I was eyeing these up for awhile as they appear to be the bee's knees of the tank lighting world. When it dropped to 100 bucks for the 48-60" one I figured it was a no brainer and got them for my 125g cichlid tank. Lights came in damaged packaging so I was a little worried, but they seemed to work fine. All the various settings look great. My fish hated the storm setting with the "lightning" hah, but I found it the most entertaining. The rolling cloud cover is also cool. My only gripe is with the remote. It is very thin and feels cheap and you have to really mash down on the buttons. Also there is a little dongle that hangs off the lights for the IR sensor. I tried mounting it a few different places, but its rather large and kind of unsightly. I 1st tried it on the side of my tank, but the remote couldn't pick up anything over there. I eventually settled for on top of the light bar itself. It doesn't look great, but seems to do the best as far as receiving a signal. No matter what though its not very sensitive so you really have to hit the buttons hard. Not sure if this is just me or not. Overall its definitely worth the 100 bucks and I'm happy with the purchase and would purchase it again. I have a 75g cichlid tank and a saltwater tank I might try these for next. ... show more

  • This light has some nice options. Unfortunately
Size: 48-60 Inch (Pack of 1) Color: Black - Dynamic Color Control
This light has some nice options. Unfortunately, it is not programmable, so as a planted tank owner, I pretty much have to leave it on full yellow all the time. After 2.5 years, I noticed 90% of the reds and 20% of the green leds are no longer working. I'm not sure how long the light is supposed to last, but I had hoped for longer than that, considering I still have some flourescent fixtures from the 80s (though of course I've had to replace bulbs). ... show more
