  • Nice and easy water kit - great website
Style: Essential Test Kit
I have well water and needed help understanding what was wrong with my water. It's just gross - has dirt in it and I think a lot of iron. This kit gives you the basics and then some with easy test strips to follow for hardness, iron, nitrate, pH, nitrite, chlorine and copper. I was very interested in the bacteria test because of my well (results are negative, thank goodness). The lead and pesticide tests were interesting and required just a few drops of water, so make sure you read the directions for all tests. Overall, I felt the test offerings were pretty comprehensive. It appears that I have a ton of iron (I knew it) and hardness in my water. Culligan also has a cool website that explains each containment in the test - very enlightening as testing your water can be a little scary. waterlabtestkit.com - this website is worth checking out. Based on my results, I clearly need help with my water so I found my local Culligan dealer on that website and he's coming out tomorrow. They also include a coupon in the kit so that will save me $50. Pretty simple process!! ... show more

  • appears accurate
Style: Essential Test Kit
I bought this test kit to use to compare with another test kit: testing my tap water, and old filtered water pitcher and a new brand of filtered water pitcher that I had just purchased (to see if there was any difference between what I had been using and what I had now). Since this test only provided for one test, I used it to compare the new brand of filtered water with the other test kit. The results came out almost the same in most tests except the hardness test. In this kit, the hardness was very high compared to the other kit. However, what I found alarming was the solids tester that was included in this kit. Since no other test kit had a solids tester included, I tested all the above-mentioned water samples with it, checking the new filter twice because they were in the unsafe range (!). That sample was actually higher than all the other water samples, including some old water that was sitting in an aquarium for weeks (I was testing it for leaks - no fish or anything else had been in the tank - except some flies). I was very concerned and contacted the manufacture of the (very expensive) filter. They replied with a lot of technical jargon - which, of course, didn't allay my concerns. Overall, this test kit was very easy to perform with the results easy to ascertain. I do see that the price has almost doubled since I bought it - I would not have paid that much if I was looking for a test kit now but at a more reasonable price, I would recommend this kit. ... show more

  • Easy to use Test Kit from Culligan Water!
Style: Essential Test Kit
This test kit provides a simple, yet effective means to check for copper, chlorine, hardness, iron, nitrates, nitrites, pH, lead & pesticides. Plus, it comes with a reusable TDS meter which showed a rather high level of dissolved solids within our water. Regardless of the type of contamination or imbalance you are dealing with, it will reveal the potential issues most homeowners are facing. The pricing is very reasonable, so it is unlikely for it to surpass your budget. The 2 factors for my purchase were not only ease of use but it is manufactured by the most trusted name in water. I'm to have the local Culligan man come to test my water to make sure my results are consistent but this gives me a level of comfort knowing the condition of the water my family and I are using in our home. The package also included a $50 savings off any products I buy from Culligan so that essentially pays for the test kit! ... show more

Read the Mail-In Water Sample Test Instructions. If a company can't make up it's mind if the Sample Bottle (there is only one (1) bottle) is filled to the "200ml" mark in line 1 or "all the way to the top" as in line 5 can you trust the test. Culligan how full do you want the bottle? Seems simple enough. After Receiving the Report. Changing to one star. The report is written to sell you water filtering products. Primary and secondary EPA water are listed together so you can not tell them apart and some contaminants don't show the EPA limit, I had to google each of them to complete the report (I guess Culligan doesn't have Google). The status column uses three symbols: blue faucet and cup looks like the only good symbol. Detected below EPA standards is a yellow caution symbol. The only correct symbol faucet and cup with a red line through it means detected above EPA standards. Why show a good result with a Yellow caution symbol, because it makes it seem worse than it is so they can sell you something to make it faucet and cup blue. The best reason not to spend $118 on this is because at the end of the report it says, "This analysis will not determine whether a water is safe for human consumption." What type of analysis does determine if a water sample is safe for my family to drink? That is why I gave you $118 to tell me if it was safe to drink. So if you want to know if it is safe to drink your water don't use this test kit. I'm going to try Home Safe, I'll tell you if it is better. ... show more

  • Too Expensive
Style: Essential Test Kit
I was hoping to test the water in my house but was only able to test 1 faucet as the kit only brings 1 test kit. My test was inconclusive as per the manual so I spent the money and still don't really know what's in my water. This is a one and done test. I'm not sure its worth it considering there are companies that will test your water for free. ... show more

  • User friendly!
Style: Essential Test Kit
I bought the test kit because I was unsure what was really in my water. It was really eye opening, and now I know that I need to follow up (I plan to call local Culligan dealer). The kit worked really well. There is a link to a website that was tremendously informative about contaminants and the test kit. It was easy to use, and results were very clear. I highly recommend this test kit, really well put together and user friendly. ... show more
