I am a Ford dealer mechanic of 30 years experience. In concept this tool is very useful, anyone that works on cars in corrosion prone areas knows that capped lug nuts have a tendency to swell and require 1/2 size sockets to get off. However after using this tool for a couple of months one socket broke then a short time after that the extension broke. I called the manufacturer CTA to enquire about warranty and was told to contact Amazon that they didn't handle warrantees. I contacted Amazon and they were helpful. Too much hassle.     • A lifesaver
If you're a mechanic who's encountered the dreaded swollen lugnuts of many Fords and Chryslers, you've basically got two options: Hammer on the correct size socket and struggle trying to remove the lugnut after you got it off, or you can purchase these. Once you've tried to first option a few times, you'll immediately understand the necessity of this tool. I've seen the photos on here of the breakage some people have experienced, but I haven't encountered any problems myself. I do have to say, these are VERY thin-walled sockets. They're designed that way on purpose, for the best access. This makes them weaker by design, and there's no way around that besides a thick-walled socket that might not fit into every wheel. It's a fine compromise in my opinion, as you won't really be needing this set on every set of wheels you do. It's more of an occasional-use tool to save yourself in a tricky situation, not the sockets you want to hammer on every single day. ... show more

    • Grate for swollen nuts
Swollen nuts can be a pain The 19.5 mm and 21.5 mm work perfectly One has the 21mm and 21.5mm witch is awesome. I wish the 19.5mm and 19.5mm were on one together but the 19.5mm is with the 18.5mm for some reason. Anyway, still works perfectly for swollen lug nuts.

Haven't even had them 2 months and they have cracked on me. Seller won't do anything because its out of the 30 day return policy. Do not recommend at all... youd have better luck using Harbor Freight chrome sockets.

    • AKA the Ford / Chrysler Lug Removal Kit
This kit is a must have for any road side or repair shop tech. Pretty much most Fords/ Landrovers and any Chrysler Product is victim the the notorious Swollen Lug Nut. This kit helps with slightly swollen and even slightly crushed lugs. The kit even comes with normal sizes to be used as a traditional set at well, but I would rather save this kit only as needed.     • Great little flip socket set!
Great set for the cost, and I’d heavily recommend it over the tool truck set for cost alone. I deal with cars in the rust belt, and see a ton of swollen lug nuts. Only thing is I’d have preferred there to be a 19 & 19.5 instead of the 19.5 & 18.5 Will update if I have any issues with durability.

I thought that these 1/2 sizes were a joke when I seen them but I needed them due to my lugnuts swelling. I’m a full time mechanic and I dealt with swelled up lugnuts by beating my socket on the nut then fought to get it off. These half size sockets eliminate the need to beat a socket on the nut. They fit just fine. The regular size sockets are really thin and they fit in some problematic aftermarket rims where regular sockets are too thick. Overall this is a handy kit. So much so that I bought 2 of them and put one in each of my service trucks ... show more

    • Have only used once so far but came in handy that time
I do roadside rescue and have run into a few cars that have had those cheap lug nuts with the chrome skins, so it is always nice to have more options when you run into the situation where the caps are spinning on the "real" lug nut or rounding off on the outside. I like the idea that these sockets flip and double the capability of each socket. More tool, less space. Like the headline says, I have only had to use these once since I have bought them, but worked well when I did use them. I won't comment on the durability until I have used them a lot more. ... show more
