Thought about getting a new printer with direct drive, considering my extruder is pulling a decent length from the dry box my spools sit in. This thing made my prints 110% better. I used an extra long Bowden tube from the dry box to the extruder, and it’s pulling so smoothly now.

Great Extruder, very clean prints, fast heat up, and very reliable operation so far. Prints PLA and PETG with the same retraction settings which is very nice. Install though can be tricky If using an auto bed level sensor, on my E3V2 using a ABL sensor, the X carriage would hit the right side of gantry. The bolts provided are too long for the lower and right most rollers. I used M5x25 bolts with standard nuts to replace the bolts that came with the kit, and it clears nicely with no cutting or grinding. They Do not give you the offsets for your bed level sensor in the instructions. -28X and -40Y seems to be pretty close and will get you into the ballpark. The Z offset is different too, so don't forget to reset your Z offset either. The instructions have the e-steps and Retraction settings in the book. So don't forget to set those up and SAVE.. E3's don't save automatically. Been using it for about a month now, and it produces great prints. I recommend it as a good upgrade for the E3 series. Especially for printing PETG or TPU. ... show more

This is a great extruder/hot end combination tightly packed into a nice size. I added this to my Ender 3 Pro and am very satisfied with the way it prints. One important caution is that the screws/nuts sticking out on the back of the wheels on the X-axis frame do not clear the bracket on the right side of the X-axis. I had to grind down the ends of two of the screws, as well as a little bit of the nuts. This was necessary for the auto-leveling routine to reach the edge of the bed. THIS EXTRUDER DOES NOT WORK IN A BOWDEN SETUP!!!!!! I have two ender 3's, One Microswiss direct drive (fantastic product), and a stock bowden style extruder. I was looking for a high quality bowden style extruder to replace the mediocre stock extruder and this seemd to be my answer. The product page says, "Supports Bowden and Direct Drive Extruder", "Bowden and Direct". This has to be something lost in translation. In no way is this designed to work in a bowden setup. It is possible to take it apart and jerry rig it to make it functional, but the quality was trash and it was clear this is not a bowden style extruder. I contacted Creality directly and was not able to get a straight answer as to whether this was designed to work as a direct drive and bowden extruder. I returned it ASAP and luckily got a full refund, but Creality needs to change the marketing and description for this product because IMO it's borderline false advertising to say "Supports Bowden and Direct Drive Extruder" along with this product. ... show more

    • my unit was too old for upgrade

While the unit was easy to install, my model was too old and needed a new screen and update to make it work. Do yourself a favor and just buy a new printer it is only 100 more and what a difference over my old one. If I had known how much they improved I would never have attempted this conversion. I got the Ender3 VE SE and am very happy with it. The KE is faster but cost more and speed is not important to me. ... show more

    • works great, but needed 24v to get above ~210C

Fantastic print quality, have run PLA and nylon through it with no issues. Smooth and consistent. In order to get the heater up over 210C I had to supply it with 24v though, so caution.. 12v just doesn't get that job done. Maybe just mine? I gave it 5 stars based on performance, seriously that good.

Highly recommended! (other than the directions) -quite an extensive install, and the directions are hard to follow. (Search YouTube, lots of good videos) -Prints come out great, very few issues once calibrated and dialed in.
