Although this product has a lot of good reviews, it is worth noting that most of these reviews are based on the mere fact that they didn't get sick while using this product in some region of the world they consider dirty. That is a pretty low bar, and worth pointing out that a lot of people who live in those areas and who don't use this product also don't get sick. That's not an effective metric. You can see other reviewers have had quality control issues and have tested this product's efficacy. I, and apparently many others, have had issues with the LED either being defective out of the box, or failing very quickly. This product is 99% marketing! Bought this to help sanitize water fountain water and any other kind of water I might need to drink. Pros and cons: Pros: 1.) This thing makes great water! No matter what kind of water I put in it, it makes it taste better. 2). Great bottle. Does keep the beverage cold. The UV light also cleans the bottle. 3). Cap can be used to sanitize other things. 4). The charge on the cap does last a super long time and does not take long to recharge. I used it all day and used it the first week on both the two tap and five tap settings and it still lasted the entire week at work so I could leave my charger at home without worry. 5). The bottle came nicely packaged suitable for gift giving. My bottle also came with 2 spare cap o-ring gaskets, although the gasket looks like it will last a long time, I like having spares. Cons: 1). I wish they made a wide mouth cap for bottles that can hold ice. 2). I wish they would give the customer the option to either buy the bottle carrier clip, instead of only offering it with a review write. Those companies that do that kind of thing rarely follow up quickly or sometimes not at all on their end to send out the promised item, and I’d really like to have one. 3). It would be nice to have a matching neoprene covering, not that the bottle sweats, I’m just a klutz and would like to have a buffer if it’s dropped on a tile or concrete floor. So far, this water bottle has impressed me. The sterilization mode is easy to activate and the build quality is great. Pros: the cap is a sealed design and is very water/weather proof. It keeps the water cold for a long time. The insulation is great. No bottle sweating at all. Con: to be sealed, it has a proprietary charging cable opposed to a universal micro-usb charger that some other sterilizing bottles have. It’s a minor issue though since it has stayed charged for at least 20 full cycles and still plenty of power left in the small cap. The 17oz size is a bit small for me but acceptable. I bought this for a trip to Kenya in January with the intent of sterilizing the tap water there to avoid using many plastic bottles. If I come home without being sick, I’ll update this to a 5 star review. **UPDATE: I used this bottle in Kenya and drank tap water from it. Saved me from using dozens of plastic bottles and I didn't get sick. During the entire 2 week trip, I only needed to recharge it once. I also used it to sterilize my toothbrush after using it and rinsing it under the faucet. Review updated to 5 stars. ... show more

Neat little products. Took me a while to figure out how it actually works. So let me give you a heads-up. Touch it and it will turn green. Then: You have to tap it 2 x not touch 2x to purify. I was pushing down on the cap when the directions Clearly say you need to tap it. I see at least one person from the reviews didn't figure it out. Again Touch it to turn it on. It will turn green then Tap 2x times for a quick purify. Tap 5 x for longer. Don't press! It will turn blue while it's purifying. ... show more

I bought two of these for world travel where water isn’t always drinkable. I just spent a week in Southern, rural Mexico purifying water from bathroom sinks, questionable faucets and even outdoor taps meant to wash feet. If I felt worried, I just ran the light twice. None of us got sick at all. It was so nice because we didn’t have to hope to find bottled water (which is not easy in rural areas). I LOVE this bottle! It was also great to have unlimited water we could get from the tap for washing fruit and vegetables. We travel more than half the year, and I hate relying on buying water. its wasteful and just a pain. It’s hard to find bottled water in the countryside in South Korea or the middle of the mountains in Europe. This will be with me everywhere I go! I was hoping to find something that would eliminate the stale water smell inside of water bottles. Although this advertised that it would, I found it to be ineffective. It may clean the bottle, but I have no way of testing it. The smell is not promising. Bummer.

Crazy about my new water bottle. Easy to use and set up. Great packaging. It comes in a tubular box, cute bag, charging cord, alcohol wipes, 2 extra washers instructions/manual. I had a few questions and recieved prompt and efficient responses through the sites web chat. So far no smell and I feel like it taste like filtered water. I do however wash it with soap and water on occasion, just because it’s habit for me too. So far I am satisfied. I work in a medical office and I don’t feel like the water dispenser is always clean (even after wiping it with alcohol). I feel better knowing that I can get clean water with the Crazy Cap water bottle. So far I think it works. Every little thing helps. I also like the idea that you can disinfect other areas with the cap. Hopefully the UV light really disinfects. The site provides tests and studies they have done.
