    • Clean yet full sound, overall great preamp
I’d describe the sound of this preamp as smooth, full, even, and detailed. It has just enough “punch” to not sound dull, and it takes eq and processing surprisingly well. Overall a very even and usable sound that just works. “Thump” mode adds some excitement and punch into the sound. “Cream” mode adds some harmonics/distortion and will probably only work in some cases since it is a very specific kind of sound, though if dialed in low might be more useful.     • Creamy thump
Definitely gives added presence for bass and guitar. Makes my bass notes nice and full and rounded and plugging my guitar in direct on creamy setting adds a nice fullness. Still, this is very expensive I think for a preamp. Satisfied buyer.

    • Incredible sound at an amazing price!
Most outboard preamps of audiophile quality are in the thousands of dollars. So imagine my surprise when I listen to my Beesneez Elly FET through the Camden EC1. The difference was immediate. It was crisp, clear, and upfront. The difference from the preamps in my Antelope Audio Zen Q Synergy Core (already a high end interface with pristine preamps) was noticeable. It was richer, warmer, and more open. I’m a voiceover artist so I need a transparent, clear, and bold sound. Not only does the EC1 deliver, but the Mojo options allow me to add some analogue sweetness when I’m not doing voiceovers ( podcasts, on-camera work, etc). I did months of research before I bought this, so if you’re on the fence, don’t be. It sounds incredible and the headphone preamps are reference quality. If you’re looking to get the most out of your mic and don’t want to spend $2,000, this is your baby. ... show more

    • There is no better value in preamps
You can't get anything better for this price. This preamp can be as transparent as you want it to be, but the Mojo knob also allows you to add coloration. Another huge bonus is the high quality built-in headphone amp/headphone mixer. A good headphone mixer itself often costs hundreds of dollars. This is the best kept secret in the industry. It keeps going on sale too. And I worry that this is just a prelude to them raising the price. ... show more
