  • Funny gift!
My sister-in-law has seven cats and is always complaining about the amount of hair they leave behind. This Christmas we got her this book as a joke...I had NO IDEA that it's an ACTUAL craft book! There are lovely crafts to do, with complete instructions and photos, great ideas on how to use the cat hair, and she's looking forward to actually doing some of the crafts! So, I guess the joke gift is a joke on me, because she LOVES it! ... show more

  • Cute, fun gift.
Not sure if I actually will make cat hair crafts, but I certainly could with the amount of cat hair floating around my house! I bought it for a friends birthday gift and a second one for me as an amazing coffee table book. It’s really cute and I suppose actually works but I haven’t tried it yet.

  • Fun White Elephant Gift And Surprisingly Sincere Craft Book
Purchased for a white elephant exchange and couldn’t resist leafing through it and was pleasantly surprised by how sincere the book was. The crafts are mostly felting, have very clear instructions, and the layout of the book is very professional and easy to read. Plus it has pictures of the author’s kitties :) Totally recommended for anyone who loves cats. ... show more

  • CURRENTLY ON A QUEST TO CREATE THE FINGER PUPPETS
I haven't actually owned this book long enough to give it a full fledged review. It has a lot of projects but many are just small appliques that you create tiny cat silhouettes and apply to other projects made using other supplies. I did however do my first attempt at a finger puppet and it basically sucked. It sucked because my cat is a Siamese mix and when I brush her she basically gives me the equivalent of dirty looking brownish hair. My 9 year old daughter got a bit creative (not being much of a cat person) and decided she wanted an owl finger puppet. My first attempt at the finger puppet (okay I admit I actually made two) was a bit too large and will eventually get turned into a Christmas ornament or something more along that line.... anyway the directions to create the finger puppets are easy to follow and there are great photos to accompany the instructions. For now my first attempts at the project weren't what I had hoped but now I am on a quest to get some better colors of cat hair. I figure I will go visit our local animal shelter and brush the cats while I am there. I am planning on smuggling out the cat hair since I just don't have the guts at this point to explain my intentions. Maybe if I actually figure this whole finger puppet thing out I can acknowledge what it is I am actually doing. Would I recommend this book? Let me work on this finger puppet thing some more and get back to you. I am determined to figure this out. I will update this review as more progress is made. ... show more

  • Impulse buy and I like it
Being a cat mom, when I saw this I just had to buy it lol I figured if I don’t like it, I can always give it to friends who has cats anyway LOL But I decided to keep it, it’s quite funny with all the steps and also what you can make. It’s on my bookshelf, I haven’t find time to make it yet being super busy at work, but it bring a smile to my face when I see that silly book and maybe when I finally have some time, I’ll give that a try! ... show more

  • Cute and crafty
I ordered this book to use as part of a white elephant gift exchange. I will also include some of the supplies that are needed to get crafting: cat hairbrush, dish soap, plastic wrap, sponge, felt, thread, felting needle, etc. The book I ordered was used, so pay no attention to the minor flaws in my pictures. I quickly scanned this book. The instructions are very easy to follow and seem to be thorough. There were some parts that were funny. I couldn't tell if that was from the translation from Japanese to English, or if that was intentional. The instructions cover the steps from collecting the hair, cleaning it, and preparing it for use. There is also some interesting stuff on the difference between cat hair and sheep wool. The projects use very little cat hair. The puppet on the cover uses the most. The other projects require felt or clothing items. These crafts look fun and inspirational. ... show more

  • Greatest White Elephant Gift Ever!
To be fair, the author is completely sincere in her writing of this book, and it actually is full of lovely photos of the crafts you can make...if you can get over the fact you are really and truly collecting and crafting with cat hair. As an alleged cat lady myself, I thought this would be a funny book for my work White Elephant gift exchange, along with a Ziploc bag sample starter kit of cat hair -collected courtesy of my own cats, natch. Unfortunately, as much as I love cats, I couldn't see myself getting beyond the humor and being true to the book's intent - which is crafting small projects from your cat's hair, including, no kidding- finger puppets- after meticulously collecting and washing said hair. I can't imagine recommending this for the serious reader, but if you are so inclined, the book is full of detailed instructions and helpful tips. ... show more
