  • Loved making this craft, and the result!
Style: DIY Felt Succulents Craft Kit
I really enjoyed this craft! I’m happy I bought and completed it before reading the reviews (a friend recommended it). While I can understand some of the concerns, I found them easy to overcome, and even part of the fun of doing this craft. It took me about two hours total, and I even was thinking about how easy and fun this craft would be to do with kids. I ended up with a couple extra flowers, so I put them in some leftover pots I had, and I am really happy with how they all turned out. I’m considering getting this again, and not putting any in the box, but instead making little gifts with each flower in its own mini container. To address some of the concerns from other reviews: Folding the Box: I agree these instructions are not the clearest, but I read them through twice, and as other pictures have shown, it is doable. Just don’t remove the second side of the adhesive till you are sure you have the fold pattern down. The cardboard is really durable and you can try it out till you get it right. I didn’t have any problem peeling the adhesive strips; I do have strong nails, but really it was no different from anything else you have to peel up in normal crafts. Chalking the Plants: After doing a couple plants Cut then Roll then Chalk, I found out it is much easier to Chalk the felt before rolling it. This is the only place I deviated from the instructions. Some of the felt/chalk combinations did cause the felt to fray, or the chalk to not stick easily, but I used my fingers to rub the chalk in so that it really blends. I found the coloring of the chalk to be one of the more fun parts of the project, and overall, I think it made it look better! Rolling: The petals didn’t line up perfectly while first rolling, and some definitely overlapped, but after rubber banding (and not a single rubber band broke for me) it was really easy to adjust them to be in a pretty layout. A nice loose roll instead of a tight roll is better. Part of what made it fun was looking at each one, then adjusting and pulling the petals till each plant was perfect. ... show more

  • Pretty and can be done well if patient
Style: DIY Felt Succulents Craft Kit
It’s a very nice kit and everything is included. I agree it’s kinda finicky. I didn’t use a hot glue gun but I can see how it would make it easier. Also I wish there was a little more variety to the succulents but overall it was a fun crafting project I completed in a couple of hours. I wanted some felt ones for a small terrarium I’m putting In the bathroom. The one thing I suggest it that wrapping then evenly doesn’t give you the even spread of leaves so you have to fold over sometimes to make sure you’re filling in all the gaps. Otherwise the leaves will just be on top of each other and not able to fan out. ... show more

Gave this as a gift to an 11 year old and I was really impressed with the flowers she made from it. She had a lot of fun, the instructions were easy, and the end results look really nice.

  • Great starter kit!
Style: DIY Felt Succulents Craft Kit
I've been crafting since I was able to hold a crayon as a child and am pretty handy, but what I cannot do is draw. After seeing some felt succulents online and people drawing patterns, I wanted to make some, but needed a boost. This kit is exactly that. The supplies are great and, while it does take a little work to get them to look like the picture, that's the same with any new thing. Plus, I'll be using the supplies to make my own templates to use on felt I've bought separately. The instruction book is also great as it gives you ideas on how to change up some of the designs, or make two-color plants with what's provided. ... show more

  • This simple project should not have taken this much time or energy......
Style: DIY Felt Succulents Craft Kit
I really wanted to love this project but there were a few things about it that gave me feelings of frustration rather than love. 1- rolling the succulents - do not expect your end result to look like the manufactures if you follow their directions. You will find that as you roll the felt, the petals end up just layering one another on 2 sides, which doesn't make for a nice rounded succulent. I had to strategically roll/clip the felt to get a nice round look which was very time consuming. I have to imagine that they cut their petals and perfectly placed them to look like what you see on the box 2- the rubber bands - many snapped as I was using them. The ones that didn't snap immediately, did so later. I sat this project aside for a day and came back to it to find many more rubber bands snapped (that were holding my succulents together). Not too happy to have to re-roll many of the succulents again because.....well see #1. I ended up hot gluing the bottoms of the rolled felt to avoid any further cursing dome from my mouth. 3- the chalk - I'm thinking maybe felt and chalk just don't mix so maybe not their fault...but then again, don't sell a craft where the chalk is an important step. Don't get me wrong, the chalk makes the succulents go from just ok to great looking. The problem is the chalk doesn't adhere to the felt. You have to re-apply the chalk over and over again. If you bump the petals...poof! The chalk is in the air and up your nose instead of on the petals. I finally decided to chalk each succulent and then hairspray to set the chalk. For the most part this worked but it begs the question, should this project be this difficult! Bottom line: lovely craft but you need patience and some ingenuity to pull off getting it to look good 3- ... show more

  • wonderful lil craft
Style: DIY Felt Succulents Craft Kit
I'm 29. I bought this for a weekend I was going to be home alone as something to occupy my time and create something cute to display. It took me about 1.5hrs of relaxed crafting....I was watching TV at the same time just enjoying myself. It was tricky to get the hang of rolling some of them tight enough but you get the hang of it. Once rubberbanded I would pull and adjust each one for a more lifelike look. Also using the chalk to add highlights helped a lot. It was fun to do, and I put it into a nice display frame on my mantel. ... show more
