  • Working really well for my birds.
Style: Heater
I bought this for my coturnix quail. During the winter it gets quite cold where I live. I tested it indoors first to get an understanding of how it works. It heated my bedroom well at night. So, I put it outside behind my quails cages. It’s the first time when, even in the teens, that my birds still layed eggs. I’m hopeful that I can get eggs year round. My only advice is to use caution when using this heater, as the front of it does get really hot. ... show more

  • Good heater.
Style: Heater
This is a great heater, I was worried about placing one in the coop after hearing a few horror stories but once it got into the negatives my girls were obviously cold. I got this 2 years ago and it still works great going into our 3rd winter. I bought one from tractor supply and it went out after one winter. This one is reliable. ... show more

  • does its job
Style: Heater
Installed in smaller coop and the chicken count inside went up the first night. Definitely doing the job I purchased it for. I tried to save $15 ordering a cheap off-brand with wireless remote but the off-brand kept shutting off and was returned. Thankfully, I still beat the winter cold fronts with this Cozy Coop. ... show more

  • Safe and Effective - but needs better directions
Style: Heater
I hope this review will help purchasers as I've noticed a lot of people don't seem to understand the product. 1. There is no "OFF" switch - once it's plugged in, it's always on. There are two settings - "I" and "II". Obviously "II" is hotter, and it IS a little hot to the touch, especially if you don't have calloused hands. I would guess it's around 130 degrees F. "I" can be touched relatively easily and I would guess it to be around 100 degrees F (like a hot tub). 2. The smaller and more insulated your coop space is, the more effective this heater would be at heating the entire thing. Otherwise, it's only going to heat about a 1-2 foot radius around it. 3. You can use a thermocube to control when the heater comes on and off. Thermocubes come in a variety of different temperature settings so you can pick whatever works for you. 4. This is not truly an outdoor product and it needs to be in a covered space - both the plug and the heater. You can, however, use an outdoor rated extension cord to run it to an exterior outlet if needed. I use it in my coop, which was built off the "Garden Coop" design online. The covered run is approximately 8 feet long x 6 feet wide, and the coop portion is elevated over half the run - about 4 feet tall by 6 feet long by 3 feet wide. It is plywood on both sides of 2x4s, with styrofoam inside to insulate. The roof is completely ventilated with flat hardware cloth under a polycarbonate lean-to style roof. I usually stuff frost cloth in between the hardware cloth and the roof so that it's not too windy in the coop in the winter - but still plenty ventilated. With the Cozy Coop heater on, the temps outside have been in the teens-20s and the coop wifi thermometer, hung approximately 7 inches from the heater (off a roosting bar), is holding at 32 degrees. I have my heater plugged into a thermocube and it goes on at 20 degrees and off at 30 degrees. I hope this helps those who are confused by this product and the mixed reviews! ... show more

  • What a steal at $38.00!!!
Style: Heater
The media could not be loaded. UPDATE: As of 1/1/20 Customer service got back to me within about 24 hours and they will be replacing my heater with a brand new one, which is awesome! I am however still a bit discouraged the unit went out so quickly but my other one still works just fine. I can’t really say how long these panels will last but their customer service is very good. All told I give the product itself a 4 star and the customer service a 5 star but I will update if I have any additional problems. UPDATE: 12/29/2019 I’ve been using this product in my coop for a little over 2 months and one of my warmers is completely dead. I have contacted the manufacturer and I’m waiting to hear back for replacement. I’m changing my review from 5 stars to 1 star until I hear back from the manufacturer. I started off loving this product but now I’m a bit more skeptical, a product should last long than 2 months in my opinion and I doubt I would ever purchase again. I will give another update when I hear back from my warranty claim. Hopefully their customer service is up to par. So far I just love this coop heater! It’s much safer than a conventional heat lamp which left unattended or improperly installed can catch your coop and or house on fire. My goal was to keep my coop above freezing during the cold winter nights which I’d have to say these have delivered as promised. My coop stays very comfortable, you don’t want your coop 70 degrees at night, chickens do very well in cold weather and any nighttime temperature in the 30’s or 40’s is ideal. They can withstand much lower than that but combs can get frostbite if it stays in the teens or single digits for too long. I would highly recommend this product, for $38 bucks I believe this is a steal and it’s worked very well for me and my flock. ... show more
