After being relegated to the pits of despair (no more caffeine) by doctors orders, I started my journey of finding a decent decaf coffee bean for espresso and my daily brew. I’ve been through way too many decaf coffees and wasn’t holding out any high hopes for this one. Boy was I pleasantly surprised! The beans smell fabulous, the coffee brews beautifully and the taste…yes! Smooth, chocolate undertones with a nice touch of sweetness. Great black or dressed up (I see you my fellow flavored syrup lovers)! As previously mentioned, the roasting date is stamped on the back along with a best by date and the bean origin. Flavor Name: Even Keel Double Pack
I recently became a Counter Culture Coffee Lover when I gave up big named grocery store brands. Having tried two flavors found locally I knew from the flavor profile that I would enjoy this. I ordered the double pack but only one arrived. Contact with the company both through Amazon CS channels and the company's email service, I was able to get the problem resolved quickly. You have to wait for this coffee to be roasted before shipment but it's so worth it. I received my replacement within a week. The company Counter Culture have great relationships with growers world wide. They support ethically produced, single origin beans sought out by coffee experts and specially selected for excellence. Every bag helps support the growers locals,workers, and the land for a sustainable product. And it's absolutely delicious. I like that this half caff so I can enjoy an evening cup through fall and winter. It's smells incredible and tastes so fresh and smooth. No bitterness or acrid taste as with big brands which are ladened with chemicals and pesticides. My other favorite flavors are Forty-Six, Big Trouble, Gradient, San Miguel... We love counterculture coffee in this house! I’ve been making my own half-caf for years and was excited to try this new option. Sadly, it did not live up to my expectations. I’m not sure how to describe it, but this flavor just wasn’t it for me. Oh well!

    • THE BEST DECAF YET
Flavor Name: Slow Motion Decaf
When I ordered this coffee I hadn't noticed that it was a dark roast. I didn't want a dark roast as I was concerned the oils from the beans would gum up my Encore. When I opened the bag the beans looked like a dark roast except that the beans were dull and not shiny from oil on the surface of the beans as most dark roasts are. I decided to grind them and WOW was I surprised in a very good way! The coffee was full bodied and delicious with a slight note of chocolate. It was very smooth and had no bitter after taste whatsoever. I have now about finished the bag of beans and have not noticed any excessive gum like residue in my grinder. I will be ordering more today. I am now a convert. Additionally, I love that this coffee is organic and is decaffeinated using the water method. I might also add that this company roasts the beans upon order AND stamps the back of the bag with a roast date and a best by date. Lastly, they have one of the very best coffee bags in the industry. (Counter Culture, please don't change a thing. Your decaf Slow Motion beans are a winner!) ... show more

I usually drink half caff and have enjoyed Counter Culture’s coffees in the past, so I gave this new offering a try. It makes a good espresso shot, and I’ll definitely order again. My only minor complaint is that the bag doesn’t have a roast date (or any date) on it. This first bag seems fresh enough though, and it shipped from Counter Culture (rather than an Amazon warehouse) so that’s a good sign. ... show more

    • Very nice half-caf
Flavor Name: Even Keel
This is a very nice half-caf, medium roast coffee. It's good a little bit of acidity which I like. I use it daily with my Hario V60. It does take a while to ship, but that's because they aren't pulling coffee off the stockroom shelf that was roasted last year.
